Biography: Edward Shannon Jeter, 85, died October 7, 2023, in Little Rock. Ed was born February 4, 1938, in Montgomery County, Arkansas, the second of four children born to William Thomas Jeter, Sr. and Erie Virginia Shannon Jeter.
After receiving a degree in physics from the University of Arkansas, Ed worked for NASA contractors in McGregor, New Orleans and Houston. He was forever proud of his work at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston during the first moon landing, 1969. His career included stints as an engineer, scientific technical writer, salesman, photographer and computer/math/physics teacher.
Ed loved playing the piano, and was particularly fond of Gershwin, Chopin and Mozart. During his four years at Presbyterian Village, he took great joy in performing piano recitals and playing chess and Wordle with staff and residents, particularly his friend Corine Creasey. His many friends noted his ability to “carry on an intelligent conversation on virtually any subject.” Until the week of his passing, he continued these conversations by phone and social media.
Ed is survived by daughters, Shannon Caroline Jeter and Robin Kathleen Jeter Senter; grandchildren, Joni Sky Jeter and her husband, Ezekiel Simon, Casey Allen Senter, Christina Elise Senter and Zipporah Jeter Harker; his sister, Nancy Carolyn Jeter Keith; close friends, Joe and Valerie Steinburg and Roy and Karen Burks; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Thomas Jeter, Jr.; sister, Gloria Deane Jeter Hixson; and niece Carolyn Annette Jeter.
