Biography: Andrew Lawson Clark, Sr., 78, of Maumelle, AR went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 12, 2023.  Andrew was born in Temple, Texas on April 6, 1945 to Billy Sunday Clark and Juanita Williams Clark.

He attended Hall High School in Little Rock and graduated in 1963.  He attended the University of Arkansas Fayetteville for his undergraduate degree before being drafted into the Army in 1967.  He spent two years in Germany working as a journalist for the military newspaper.  In 1971 he returned to Fayetteville, Arkansas and obtained his juris doctorate from the U of A.

It is very difficult to sum up a life in a paragraph or two because 78 years covers a lot of history.  We were married for 42 years and it was a great ride.  Andrew was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  He was a loyal and good friend to many and a respected attorney.  He practiced law in Arkansas for 50 years, this year.

He was an avid hunter of deer, turkey, rabbits, ducks and occasionally some wild hogs.  He loved to be out on the Ramsey trail at the deer club or on a tree stand.  He loved nature and anything to do with hunting, guns, and of course, chicken-fried venison. Andrew was a great cook.  He would put it all together for a gathering and I would visit, play the piano and serve tea.

Andrew still practiced law, but for the past three years he has been my fix-it, paint-it, sand-it, glue-it repairman for all my projects to go into my antique mall booths.  He always said he was my support system and he definitely was.

He had a dry wit and he was very easy going.  He had a huge tender spot for St. Jude’s because his middle daughter Liz had a Wilm’s tumor when she was three and she is here today because of St. Jude’s.

Andrew loved the Lord.  Most of the time if you asked him to pray, he might get choked up and shed a tear.  He supported me whole-heartedly in the Exodus.Life prison ministry.  He pretty much always said yes to whatever I wanted to do.

Andrew loved me well and I will see him again someday.  I’m sure that when I get there, he will ask what project I have for him to tackle.  We will spend an eternity of days together experiencing the glory and beauty of our Heavenly Father’s world and all the mighty works of his hands.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents:  Bill and Nita Clark and his sister, Beth Mawhinney.  He is survived by his wife, Mindy Clark; his sister Pamela Clark Banks of Laguna Beach, CA; three  children:  Andy Clark, Jr. (Sarah) of Temecula, CA; Liz Clark Smith (Jeff) of Elkins, AR; Laura Lane “Laney” Clark of Cabot, AR; nephew William Mawhinney of Mayflower, AR; niece Billie Sunday Banks of New York City, NY.

Andrew has six grandchildren whom he loved with a passion:  Noah Terry, 19, at Ouachita Baptist University; Jaylan Ricketts, 15, of Cabot, AR; Wyatt Smith, 14, of Elkins, AR; Evangeline Clark , 11, and Andrew Clark III, 10, of Temecula, CA; and Asher Vest, 2, of Cabot, AR.

Celebration of Life service will be held at Grace United Church, 12900 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, AR at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 18, 2023.  Reception to follow.  Interment at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.

Donations:  St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Grace United Church, 12900 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, AR 72223

Andy and I became friends 38 years ago as we practiced law. He was a Lawyers' Lawyer and my next door neighbor on EV for awhile! A Godly life!

I knew Andy during the time I was assigned at the Pulaski County Courthouse. It was always a pleasure to visit with him. A fine attorney, easy to work with, and will be missed by all who knew him. My sincere condolences to his family, may God bless and comfort during this time of loss.

Mindy, you are a strong lady and loved dearly by so many. You have touched lives in many ways. May the Lord Bless You and Keep You and your family during this time. Andy was for sure a great man and helped so many during his lifetime. A song that helps me through is Scars in Heaven by Casting Crowns.
