Biography:

Francis Arthur (Frank) Dean, Jr. was born September 13,1928 and passed from this life October 3, 2023.  He lived 95 years and 20 days.  Originally from the Bootheel of Missouri, he graduated from Malden High School in 1946.  Frank joined the United States Navy right out of High School, and on the GI Bill, he attended The College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, where he met Carolyn Ruth Green. (1930-2015) Little Rock, Arkansas became their home after Frank graduated from college, and Frank and Carolyn were married on May 28,1950.

He is survived by his son, Steven Arthur Dean (Lori); and his daughter Janet Elizabeth Dean Basham (Scott); Five grandchildren, Ashley Warren (Jason); Rebecca Gaffigan (Aaron); Lauren Hardin (Aaron); Bethany Dean (Cam); Harrison Dean (Amye); and seven great grandchildren.

Frank married Darlene Giffin on May 18, 2019.

Frank is a Veteran of The United States Navy, serving his country from 1946-1948. He cherished his time in the Navy.  He spent most of his time in San Francisco and also in San Diego.  He loved music, really most styles, but his favorite was listening to Big Band Music.  He said the real “beat” in music comes from the Big Band sound.

Frank was loved by everyone he met.  His laugh was contagious. He treated everyone with respect. He worked his whole career providing for and loving his family. He had attended St. Paul United Methodist Church since 1952, where he is considered a pillar of the church, serving on many boards and on other committees, giving of his time, energy and expertise to the church. Frank wrote a dedicated History of St. Paul United Methodist Church. 

Frank had a very successful career as an accountant in his professional life. He worked for McKesson & Robbins, Bracy Development Company, Inc and Porter Foods.  He retired at age 62.

Frank was humble and kind. Rest in peace, Dad.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4 to 6 PM at Ruebel Funeral Home.  The funeral will be Friday, October 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Little Rock, Arkansas. Burial will take place at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Bryant, Arkansas.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to, Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Dr, Little Rock AR 72205, alzheimersarkansas.com.
