Biography: Janet Templeton Riggs passed away September 2, 2023, after a long illness. She was 90 years old.
 
She is survived by her husband, Dr. B. Lawrence Riggs, her daughter and son -n-law Drs. Ann Riggs and Don Bodenner, Grandchildren Katie Crosby (Michael) and Dana Lancaster (Reese), great granddaughter Kayli Perrin, sister-n-law Elizabeth Brandon, and her special family friend Norma Ordez.
 
She is preceded in death by her son, Byron Kent Riggs.
 
Janet was a gregarious person, a devoted family member, lover of animals, and a dear friend. She particularly loved dogs and is well known for her love of Dachshunds.
 
She attended primary and secondary school in Little Rock, higher education at Texas Women’s University and later graduated from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. She was accepted into medical school at UAMS but chose to follow her beloved husband to San Francisco. 
 
Janet worked as a medical technician at the University of Arkansas and at the University of California in San Francisco before retiring to raise their family in Rochester Minnesota, where Larry was on staff at the Mayo Clinic.
 
She spent 20 years as a ballet dancer including 10 years with the Performing Ballet Company in Rochester. Janet was very active in local politics and was also an avid international traveler.

Janet developed Lewy Body Dementia and spent her last year of life at Parkway Village Health Center where she received wonderful care. The family wishes to thank the staff for their dedication to her care. 
 
Funeral services will be in Hot Springs for family members and close friends. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Life for her on Sunday, Sept 24, 2023, from 3-5. Janet was a much admired and loved member of our book club, OWLS. We were fascinated by her unique experiences and stories . No one can take her place! My deepest sympathy, Larry and Ann.
