Biography:

Roy Richard Colglazier was born June 4, 1945 at Camp Lejeune, NC and passed away at home on Friday, August 4, 2023 in Little Rock, AR.

Roy graduated from Wyalusing Valley High School in Wyalusing, PA. He attended the University of Louisville and then joined the Army. In the Army he served as an electronics specialist in Turkey and Japan. Upon discharge, he attended North Carolina State University. Roy continued a long career in data technology after leaving the Army and eventually retired from the State of Arkansas Division of Information Systems.

An active member of Second Presbyterian Church, he participated in worship and men’s bible study, both in person and eventually online, and had relationships with several of the ministers, members, and staff.

While he was a multi-sport athlete as a youth, Roy’s sport of choice as an adult was rugby. After learning rugby in Memphis, Roy’s rugby development took off after moving to Little Rock and joining the River City Rugby Club. For several years Roy was named to the Ozark Rugby Union select side (all star) team. Besides being an outstanding player, Roy later became an accomplished referee and was invited to officiate at various rugby tournaments around the country. A respected leader, Roy served several terms as President of The Greater Little Rock Rugby Association and later as President of the Ozark Rugby Union. Roy loved rugby football. He was an avid and loyal fan long after hanging up his boots. Several of his best friendships were made on the rugby pitch and everyone will miss “Roy Dog”.

Roy was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Leona Colglazier, and his brother, Donald Colglazier. He is survived by his sisters Carolyn Colglazier, Joan Colglazier, and Shirley Rollins; close family friend, Bridget Harding; his former wife, Jeanne Roddy; his daughters Jennifer Anderson (Danny) and Paula Drilling (Ed); and four grandchildren, Gabe Anderson, Graydon Anderson, Charlotte Anderson, and Rosemary Mallory. He is also survived by many friends, all of his Rugby Brothers, and by his beloved cat, Firecracker.

We wish to thank the staff of Good Shepherd and the providers from CAVHS Home Based Primary Care that provided excellent and compassionate care to Roy over the past several years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Rock Rugby Club or to Second Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
