Biography: Mary Jane Canaday Miller, age 62, of Little Rock, died Friday, June 28, 2002. Mary Jane was born in Knoxville, Tenn., later graduating from high school in Tenafly, N.J. She attended the University of Tennessee one year before transferring to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she received her B.S. in Nursing. She received her Masters in Nursing from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She became an associate professor of nursing at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, teaching Clinical Nursing for 26 years. She was awarded associate professor emeritus in 2002. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Arkansas Nursing Association, and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Mary Jane loved her students and took a very personal role insuring their successful completion of nursing training. She adored her grandchildren, and loved music and reading. She is survived by her mother, Mary Anderton Canaday of Little Rock; three daughters, Mary Ann Miller Callison and husband Louis of Benton, Laura Jane Miller and partner Mary Hill of Alexandria, Va., Karen Elizabeth Miller Viefhaus and husband Terence of Little Rock; one son, David Canaday Miller of Houston, Texas; one sister, Anne Canaday Jones Sloan of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, Ashley Ann Callison, Scott O'Neal Viefhaus, Christopher Canaday Miller-Hill, Patrick Harnson Miller-Hill; one nephew, Robert Douglas Jones; two nieces, Susan Jones and Ellen Jones White. Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made to the Paul O. Canaday Scholarship Fund at the University of Arkansas Medical Science Center, Little Rock, 72205.
