Biography: William (Bill) Howard Russom, born in Little Rock, December 26, 1937, to Zackery T. Russom and Louise Sontag Russom, passed away with his wife Kathryn beside him on May 3rd, 2023, after having fought a long, difficult battle with cancer.
Bill grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Central High School in 1955. He later served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer during the Korean War. He went on to attend UALR majoring in engineering and worked for the City of Little Rock for forty years as the Public Works Operations Manager.
Bill had a quick dry wit which he used often to tease his wife. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks Baseball. He had a lifelong interest in astro-physics and what was happening in politics. He loved going to their home overlooking Tablerock Lake in Lampe, Missouri, and there he was happiest.
He leaves behind his wife, Kathryn Varady-Russom, four stepchildren, Cheri Ottaviano (Noel), Scott Varady (Melissa), Steve Varady (Dianna), Susan Walters (Sean), nine step-grandchildren, and two step- great-children. The family wishes to thank Arkansas Hospice for their loving concern and support throughout this difficult time.
There will be a graveside ceremony at Roselawn Cemetery on May 12th, 2023 at 2 p.m. Should you wish to remember Bill, donations to the American Cancer Society will be welcomed.
May God comfort you through his word the Bible and the gift of prayer. With caring thoughts.
