Biography: James Grover Barton, 79 born November 15, 1943 in Fort Smith, AR departed this earth on March 1, 2023.
Jimmy, as he was affectionately known, was a 1961 graduate of Fort Smith High School. He then furthered his education at the University of Arkansas where he obtained a degree in Banking & Finance and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He then achieved his juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law. Shortly after graduating Law School Jimmy accepted a job with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. With the F.B.I. Jimmy and his family lived in Indiana, Northern California & then returned back to Arkansas settling in Little Rock. During his retirement he lived in Central & South America and Mexico while he was married to Kay Gilbrech before returning to Little Rock and eventually Conway.
Jimmy is survived by his daughters; Paige Barton Boniecki (Kurt) of Conway, Blythe Barton McPherson (John) of Rogers and their mother, Melanie Gurisco Barton Peterson (Keith). He was blessed to have three grandsons; Benjamin McPherson, Chance Boniecki & Ethan McPherson and
his siblings Patsy Barton McDonald of Dallas and John Clib Barton, Jr. (Jan) of Albuquerque. As well as his nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends, many whom were lifelong.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home
