She worked with Head Start in the development and creation of their early childhood education program. She was a founder and served as President of Second Genesis, a non-profit organization that worked towards helping reduce recidivism for incarcerated women in Arkansas by providing them with education and support upon their release. She was a wise and wonderful friend and listener with a soothing voice and a compassionate heart. Her table was always beautifully set, and she valued highly the perfect cup of tea.
