Biography: Virginia Louise Weyrens passed away peacefully in her sleep early in the morning of January 11th, four days short of her 88th birthday.

Virginia was born on January 15, 1935 to Merwin and Elizabeth (Bement) Willke in Moline, Illinois. She graduated from Sycamore High School in 1953. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1957 where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.

After graduation she moved to the Chicago area and started her career teaching Home Economics. It was there that she met Peter J. Weyrens, through mutual friends. Virginia and Pete were married on July 11, 1959 and went on to have four children, Peter, Bill, Nancy and Robert. The family moved to Oklahoma City and then to Dallas in 1971 where they found a true home with the St. Patrick Catholic community. They were married for 37 years until Pete’s death in 1996.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Virginia was an active member of the St. Patrick’s community. She played guitar for the folk group at St. Patrick for over twenty years. She volunteered at the church office of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul which provides temporary assistance for people in need. She was active as a volunteer leader with both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed baking, sewing, tole painting, and crafting. She loved watching sports including the Texas Rangers, golf, and tennis. Virginia was a people person that always put helping others over herself. A loving and wonderful woman to the very end. She will be greatly missed by all.

Virginia joins her parents and her loving husband in heaven. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Ann Petit; her four children, Peter Weyrens, William (Brenda) Weyrens, Nancy (Steve) Searle, and Robert (Maria) Weyrens; her nine grandchildren, Amanda, Rachel (Christopher), Matthew (Kayla), Tanner, Abigail (Joshua), Jack, Joshua, Samuel and Cynthia (Lewis); and four great-granddaughters, Lillian, Bailiee, Abbiee, and Maddiee.

Services will be January 21st at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dallas – Rosary and Mass starting at 1:30pm followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul Diocesan Council of Dallas, a charity that Virginia was passionate about supporting.  Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
