Biography: Johnsye Craft Campbell of Little Rock, Arkansas died January 4, 2023. She was born February 17, 1931, to Belton and Lucille Craft. Of utmost importance to her was the church. She belonged to Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church for 72 years, where she served as an Elder and also taught Sunday School.

Johnsye had a career in the insurance business, which is where she met her husband, Charles C. (Buddy) Campbell. They were married 53 years when he died in 2003. She left the insurance business to begin a family in 1954. Caring for her family held high priority in her life and brought her much happiness. She always supported and was active in her children’s many activities.

She was a member of Chapter C, PEO, and held many offices including president. She served as Chairman of the Little Rock Cancer Crusade in 1973. At one time, she was a member of the Auxiliary Board of the Little Rock Boys and Girls Club and the Florence Crittenton Home.

Johnsye enjoyed tennis for many years and was quite good at it, winning trophies at Riverdale Country Club and later Pleasant Valley Country Club. She was an avid reader and a member of the “Pass Around Book Club” for 30 years. She was also a member of the Little Rock Departmental Club and Bas Bleu.

In addition to her many dear friends at church, PEO, and other organizations, she cherished her friends in Bridge Clubs, the friends she made in a TGIF group, and mall walkers.

She and her beloved daughter, Pam, enjoyed competing in Scrabble, playing thousands of games over the years. At the time of her death, Johnsye was two games ahead overall!

She is survived by her son Charles (Chuck) Campbell and his wife Dana and granddaughter Lydia (fiancé Ethan) all of Durham, North Carolina and grandson, Thomas (Laura) and great granddaughter, June of Asheville, North Carolina; son Phil Campbell and his wife Becky, grandson Hunter Cooper ( Lindsey), great grandson, Campbell, and great granddaughter, Poppy, all of Little Rock, Arkansas, and grandson Ross Cooper (Danielle) of Bend, Oregon; daughter, Pam Plummer and her husband Frank of Little Rock, Arkansas, grandson, Brent Sodman (Linsey) of Austin, Texas, grandson David Plummer (Maizy) and great granddaughter, Lyla, and grandson, Michael Plummer, all of Salt Lake City, Utah, and granddaughter, Sarah Plummer of Cabot, Arkansas; daughter, Terri Speer and her husband Bob of Mountain View, Arkansas, grandson Brian Davis, great granddaughters, Jordan and Lauren, all of Nesbit, Mississippi; and sister-in-law, Barbara Morrow, and nephews Rance Craft (Meredith) and Chase Craft.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Campbell, father, Belton Craft, mother, Lucille Craft, stepmother, Jewel Craft, and brother, Jerry Craft.

Johnsye was a wonderful, generous, and understanding person who never waivered in her faith or love. She touched people in so many ways. And, of course, she was the best mother, grandmother, and great grandmother EVER. We all loved her so very much. She will be sorely missed, but her memory cherished.

The family would like to thank Emily and Keri - two very special people who helped take care of her, especially the last few months.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church, 4401 Woodlawn, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
