Biography: Jordan Clark Smith inspired more people than most of us could ever imagine.  He was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 20, 1983, the fifth of six children, and died on November 1, 2022 at a wonderful place of love and care, Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston, AR.  Jordan was an angelic child, loved to run and play, was sensitive, and always smiling.

A tragic accident at the age of 8 required him to receive total care for the past 31 years.  After 5 months in the hospital, he came home where he lived with his family for more than 10 years.  Jordan inspired his family, his caregivers, and many others through the years; the Smith Family has heard countless testimonies of depression cured, addiction conquered, and others professing renewed ability to face their own difficulties as a result of being with him.  Their challenges somehow seemed much easier to face considering all their sweet Jordan had to endure every day.

Jordan, in spite of his limitations, was able to accomplish many surprising things, including serving as best man in one of his caregiver’s weddings and graduating (with assistance) from Hall High School.  His knowing smile, kindness, care for others, and sense of humor was evident throughout his entire life despite his physical challenges. And what resilience he showed us through the years!  He persevered through unimaginable hardship.  He taught others with his peaceful and quiet courage, reminding us many times over that a person’s worth is not based on their accomplishments, status, or earthly riches, but on who they are.  This was the sacrifice and secret message that Jordan gave us all; and we are much better for it!  Now we say goodbye to Jordan, our centering, guiding light.

Jordan is survived by his parents Connie and Charlie Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas, his siblings Thaddeus Killen Smith, Amber Weatherford Smith (Ananth Ranganathan), Isaac Smith (Morgan), Rachael Constance Curtis (Dennis, “DJ”) of Little Rock and Cameron Wilson Smith (Christin) of Houston, TX; and his nieces and nephews Carter, Mason, Silas, Rosie, Annette, Charlie, Set, and Jane Lauren Smith, Cruz Smith, Nash Ranganathan, and Dennis and Ralphie Curtis.

Visitation will be at Fellowship Midtown on Thursday, November 17 at 10 a.m, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m.  A private burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

I sit here sadly sitting on my steps in the sun thinking how I could write something about Jordan that could possibly be everything I want to say about him. I knew him during his early age, he had his fun way trying to keep up with sibs, his speaking like an adult at times, and I knew he was smart. As years moved on, Dick and I moved to Ohio, so it was at rare times we could only meet together at Greenhurst, but we will never forget Jordan
