Biography: Barbara B. Dover, 90, of Little Rock, died on October 3, 2022. Barbara was born March 5, 1932, in Mena, Arkansas to the late Winifred Loyd and Raymond C. Brown, now of Little Rock.

Barbara met her high school sweetheart, Darrell D. Dover, in 1950 and the two were married in the First Methodist Church in Mena on August 15, 1954.  They have enjoyed over 54 years of happily married life.

Always an attractive woman, Barbara won the title of “Miss Polk County” in 1947 and followed in 1949 with the title of “Miss Chigger Ridge”. Over the years, the second title has been the focus of several family jokes.  Those who knew Barbara well will not be surprised to learn that she took this in good stride.  Barbara was extremely well liked and many church members, pastors, committee chairman and fellow members have been heard to say that they have never heard an unkind word said about Barbara.
Barbara was active in church affairs, having served many years as Chairman of the Memorial Church Committee and was one of five people who prepared plans for and interior design of the Asbury United Methodist Church’s Visitor Center which is still used.

Survivors include a son, Douglas Dover (Jane), of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Darrellyn Green, of Little Rock; a grandson, Darrell Green, of Little Rock; a step grandson, Jason Green (Kim); a step great granddaughter, Megan Green all of Fayetteville, AR; two nieces, Cathy Spivey of Little Rock and Deborah Mathis of North Little Rock; and a grandniece, Ellen Spivey of Little Rock and a grand nephew, John Spivey, now of New York City, NY.  She is predeceased by her husband Darrell D. Dover; a son-in-law Forrest Green; and a sister-in-law, Betty Mclendon of Fort Smith.

A graveside side service will be held on Friday October 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park, Little Rock, AR.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Pulaski County Humane Society.  Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

My dear old neighbor, Mrs. Dover was an especially warm and kind influence in my childhood. I still have some of her wonderful cookie recipes, however they never come out as good as hers. Other memories include her Halloween Spook house that I don’t think she ever forgot how comically scared I got! And many, many play dates with her daughter. My heart goes out to her family and friends. She really was a special person.

Darrellyn and Doug,
I was so very saddened to hear of your mother's passing. I have nothing but the fondest memories of sweet Miss Barbara as she and Mom were the best of friends and of course our fathers were as well. You all are in the thoughts and prayers of all our family, both the Dixons and the Pyles. Ann

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Barbara’s family. I had the privilege of knowing her from coming into Cracker Barrel with her lovely daughter when I worked there. She always was so nice. She made you feel special. Barbara was a very special and beautiful person. She will be so missed.

Barbara and I were law school wives back in Fayetteville days and later in LR. She was a lovely person inside and out and I was privileged to have crossed her path. Joanne Haley Riddick
