Biography: Born September 8,1950 to Dick and Jackie Franke Lewis, Sherry Louise Lewis passed on, September 3,2022 at her favorite lake, Greer’s Ferry in Arkansas. In a raging thunderstorm that day, aboard her pontoon boat, Sherry was sent to her next destination.
She was a kind, generous, loving woman with an incredible sense of humor.
She is survived by brother Ricky Lewis of Benton, Arkansas; by Sally Ann Lewis of Santa Cruz, California; her nephew Chris Lewis(Sara) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Taylor(Adam) Jarboe of Newnan, Georgia and Lane Warner (Vince) of Speedway, Indiana ; stepsisters Susan Schallhorn(Tom) of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Eileen Kelly Coe also of Fayetteville; cousins Bob Franke (Cindy), Chris Franke (Sharon) of Little Rock; Carol Franke Horner of Anchorage, Alaska. And bonus brothers Lou Graham (Leigh), Larry Graham(Cindy Steel), all of Little Rock, and Grimsley Graham (Carol) of Fayetteville, AR..
Sherry was educated at Jefferson Elementary, Forest Heights and Hall High in Little Rock, graduating with a B.A from Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. She also received her Masters in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oregon in Eugene. She spent her career after brief stints in the Nome and Kenai areas, in prison administration in Kenai, Alaska. She loved her job and the people she worked with for over 25 years, especially Rick Paz and Dave Cleveland and a host of others. Sherry loved Alaska, Arkansas and the Arkansas Razorbacks, especially basketball. She grew to love the return of the Sandhill Cranes each Spring in Kenai, the prolific Bald Eagles and the Moose that grazed in her backyard. In Arkansas, Eden Isle was a center to her joy and well being in life. Since 1964, she enjoyed all that Greer’s Ferry offered with family and friends and the bonus brothers next door. She always felt the presence of her Dad at the lake. An avid dog lover, she was, importantly, predeceased by her canine loves, Kumaks, Goliath(who appeared on David Letterman’s “stupid pet tricks”), Storis, Molly, Kirwan and Smoke.
