Biography: Francis Elma Avery, Sr., age 91, of Little Rock, died October 4, 2007. He was born on March 28, 1916 in Sweet Home, Arkansas, to Argus and Sarah Margaret (Dorough) Avery. Francis worked as a railroad fireman and engineer with the Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific railroads. His first wife, Dorothy Rommel and their two sons Ronald Edwin and Francis Elma, Jr. all preceded him in death, as did his second wife Joyce Cole. His faith and lifelong membership at Primrose United Methodist Church bore him through his losses. Francis is survived by his sister Julia Peterson; four granddaughters Becky Darlene Avery, Sharon Avery, Susan Rock, and Deanna Martinez; and deeply loved by his nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 10am to 11am on Monday, October 8, 2007, at Primrose United Methodist Church with funeral services to follow at 11am officiated by Rev. Clayton Bulice. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Primrose United Methodist Church, 3006 West Dixon Road, Little Rock, 72206. I always felt that Francis and Julia were my
cousins -- because I had always called their
mother, Aunt Margaret. God bless.
