I am so saddened to hear about Mark's passing. We were great friends at the UofA, and I enjoyed working with him in student government and honor societies. He was so very intelligent and insightful, positive and encouraging to all, and concerned for others' welfare. Mark possessed the highest integrity and always set the bar high. He wanted to make a big and positive impact on Arkansas and Arkansans, and he certainly did. It was a pleasure to have known him. Sending hugs and deep condolences to Anita, Larry, Sandy and Mark's wife and girls.

Rhea, Linda Lou and I are so sorry to see this. We had such a wonderful visit with him the last time we saw him in Paragould. He was the primary character in more than one of my favorite political stories. He was so good at what he did, and always remembered and helped those who had helped him. Few people have ever reached the pinnacle of power that he achieved at such a young age. And he was always ready to help folks from Arkansas when they needed something for their communities. And Miss Anita, you raised your son well.

Rhea, Lindsay and Lauren

There are no words to adequately describe how sorry I am for your loss. For the past few football seasons at PA, my seats have been a couple of rows above yours. I loved watching how Mark would light up when Lauren would run up to see the both of you during a break from cheering. It made me tear up and smile every time. I know the weeks to come will be very hard. My prayers will not stop. For God to hold you all in the palm of his hands and surround you with his grace.

Praying for the whole Middleton family! Mark was a great boss and always willing to help. Even after I left to work for my sons plumbing company. I was still able to call and ask business advise for my sons. He truly wanted to see my family business grow even though we were competitors. Thank you for your kindness Mark - RIL.

We are so sad to learn that Mark has passed away. We were also sad when your sweet mom passed away. She has been a forever friend since 6th grade and we last saw Gary and Ann at our 50th anniversary in 2016 -she was our maid of honor! She was crazy about you girls and your families, especially those granddaughters and always kept me posted! I only have Gary’s address but no phone numbers so in the weeks ahead can you please email me -we don’t want to lose touch with Ann’s family

Words cannot express how sad I am for Mark’s precious family and for all of the many people who loved and cared for him. I will never forget how much love and support he showed my family and me over the years. He was there for me during some of the most difficult times in my life. During the illness and death of my husband, my fight for custody of my granddaughter and so many other times. I loved him as if he were my brother and will always hold him dear in my heart.

Mark likely never knew how many lives he touched, including my own. He has been a part of my life since I was six years old, first as a classmate until we graduated high school together, and then years later as a valued client, but most importantly, as a friend. And he will be missed by not only me, but so many others. Your family will always be in my thoughts.

Joe and I were saddened to learn of Mark’s death last Sunday. We both have fond memories of Mark. My memories include deep discussions while we were in student government at the UofA, and of celebrating Thanksgiving in Wales with Mark and a mutual friend/UofA staff member while Mark was a student at the London School of Economics and I was studying in York.

Joe has fond memories and lots of stories of being Mark’s roommate during law school and of Mark introducing him to his future wife (me!) in their living room! It was clear back then that Mark would be a successful man, and make an impact on our state…and he was and he did.

May you find comfort in the many memories you have of time spent with Mark. He will be missed by so many people. Sending love and light to your entire family.

Your son and brother was a gentleman, friend and wonderful businessman never failing to give thanks for what others were doing for the company and how much you meant to him in such an honest and humble way.
I pray your grief will give way to your love and remembrance of his smile and better times.
Most sincerely,
