Biography:

Bobby Bonner, Jr. was born in Helena, AR on February 4, 1953 to Bobby Bonner, Sr. and Juanita Bonner.  He passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 8, 2022.  Bobby was a 1971 graduate of Little Rock Central High School where he participated in football, basketball and track.  After graduating from High School, he entered the grocery business and worked with his dad and brother for 43 years at Bonner’s Grocery.  Bobby so valued customer service that customers became dear friends and he strived everyday to make his customers and friends feel special and valued.  You could always count on Bobby to tell you a good joke, a great story or to reminisce about the latest Arkansas Razorback Game.  He always enjoyed how customers who left the community would return to visit and he would get to reconnect with them again.  He never met a stranger or forgot a name or face and he prided himself on connecting with each customer personally and finding some common ground.

Bobby is predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bitsi; his daughter, Ashley; and his son, Chris; his brother,Philip Bonner (Pam); sisters, Nita Berry(Ernie) and Judy Colony (Ben); and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Roselyn Stanley; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Bobby is a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the TV Board, member of the Koinonia-Dialogue Sunday School Class and participated in Men Alive and the PHUMC Softball Team.  A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Foundation TV Ministry.

Found Bobby to be very " Christ-Like " in his personality; can't do anytime better than that. What honor to talk with him. Pax Christi ! Vivat Jesus ! Warren

It has been a very long time Bitsi, Ashley, & Chris, but I am so sorry for the tremendous loss of your beloved dad!
He was truly a good man and quite a character! My mom and I worked at Bonners for a few years when I was around 12/13. I even babysat Ashley and Chris sometimes & introduced them to the movie Dirty Dancing ( it was a different time). Bobby and I would talk about music mostly and boy stuff on our rides from Bonners to WLR. I think he might still have a Jackson 5 album I loaned him. We would sometimes compete for the best joke.. I still remember the parrot joke after all these years. He always tried to mentor and encourage all the youth that worked there in a kind and gentle way. May he rest in eternal peace!

I shopped at Bonner's for many years, and my daughter worked there after school for several. We were always greeted with a smile, and treated like family. Bobby Jr., always took time to talk with my children, and never seemed to mind when my youngest had a story to tell. He was always kind, and caring, and will definitely be missed. Praying for all of the Bonner family. May God wrap you in His comfort and give you peace.

Bobby was a wonderful man and boss. Bonner's was my first job and all the Bonners made me feel like I was part of their family. They taught me a lot in the 5 years I worked with them. Bobby will be missed. I'm sorry for your loss and am sending love, hugs, and prayers to you all.

Bitsi, I am so, so sorry! In the last few years, it has been so fun to become reacquainted with Bobby when I’d see him at Kroger. We had quite a few wonderful talks, and just like in our college days, he was always so personable and genuinely interested. I looked forward to seeing him, and as Covid has ebbed, I’ve found myself hoping to run into him again, and I’m sad that I won’t. He will be greatly missed, but thankfully we don’t grieve as those who
have no hope. My love and prayers are with you, Ashley, Chris, and all those who had the privilege of loving Bobby. ❤️
