Biography: Shirley Anne Mason McMillan (GG to her family) was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world after a long, happy life on the morning of March 28, 2022.

She was born to John and Era Mason on August 17, 1930 in Los Angeles, California, though the family soon moved to Freer, Texas. After graduating from high school, Shirley went to college at Texas A&I College in Kingsville, Texas and then moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where she met her husband, Dan McMillan. Together they raised three children: Michael, Craig, and Kevin.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Dan, sister Becky Brown, brother Billy Mason, and niece Gay Lynne Brown.

Shirley spent her children's early years raising them at home and driving them to and from their various sporting events and practices. Later, when the boys got older, she began volunteering for the Little Rock School District, eventually becoming a much sought-after teacher's aide and long-term substitute. Shirley continued working for the school district well into her eighties.

Shirley is survived by her sons Michael (wife Terri, children Meredith Stanton/Cody, Allison George/Ty, Mason, and great grandchild Emmett George), Craig, and Kevin (daughter Amanda Spina/Dennis). She also is survived by nephew Derek Brown (wife Angie, daughters Courtney and Brooklyn) and niece Terri Lang (husband Larry, son Justin).

There will be a private service for Shirley at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

Shirley McMillan was a very special person. She was the consummate mother, wife, host, disciplinarian not only to her family but those who she welcomed into her family. I have very fond memories of her. She was definitely an angel.
