Biography: Julia Jane Headstream Haught of Little Rock died the 17th day of March, 2022. She was born on July 11,
1942, in Biloxi, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Janie Lee Nall Headstream and Dr. James William
Headstream.
 
Julie is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, William Dixon Haught and daughter Stephanie Jane
Haught Wade and husband John Cogan Wade and three grandchildren, Delia Jane Headstream Wade,
John Cogan Wade, Jr. and William Dixon Holderfield Wade, all of Little Rock. She is also survived by her
younger brother, James William Headstream, Jr. and wife Marsha Ann Driver Headstream of Cheyenne,
Wyoming, and their children Katherine Lee Headstream Aukerman, husband Dr. Ryan Anthony
Aukerman, son Elliott Anthony Aukerman and daughter Maisy Kate Aukerman of Laramie, Wyoming,
and James William Headstream III and son Ryland Chandler Headstream of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
 
Julie, a 1960 graduate of the Little Rock public schools, attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles,
Missouri, for two years and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1964, with a
Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught first grade in Houston, Texas, and Alexandria, Virginia, and
worked in Government Communications for AT&T in Washington, D.C. In 1995, she and business
partner, the late Susan Mayes, formed Art of the Party, an event coordination company that they operated
for twenty-three years. Many happy weddings, private parties, corporate and charitable events were the
result.
 
Julie was initiated into Psi Chapter of Chi Omega Fraternity in 1963. She served as President of Chi
Omega Alumnae of Greater Little Rock and was honored as Outstanding Chi Omega Alumna in 1995.
Julie was also President of Psi Chapter House Corporation Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Chi
7 Omega National Founders' Centennial Weekend. As a member of the Junior League of Little Rock, she
served on the board as Recording Secretary, JLLR NewsSheet Editor, Little Rock Cooks Cookbook Chairman and was Traditions Cookbook Co-Chairman, when the book was being developed and written. She was President of the ILLR Sustainer Board and was honored as 2008 Sustainer of the Year.
 
Volunteering for over twenty-five years with Friends of the Zoo, Inc. at the Little Rock Zoo, Julie served
two terms as President of Friends of the Zoo and was also founder of the ZOO DAYS festival, started the
zoo's gift shop, was a member of the Docent Council for twelve years and Chairman of the DINO'S
ALIVE exhibit. She was recognized with "Julie Haught Day" and received a lifetime Zoo membership.
Among her other community activities were The Fine Arts Club at the Arkansas Arts Center (TABRIZ
and Decorative Arts Forum committees) and the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Auxiliary
(Board Secretary and Cooks Tour committees).
 
Julie was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and The Country Club of Little Rock, where she made her debut in 1961. She enjoyed being with her much beloved friends, traveling, needlework, cooking, decorating, gardening, and reading, but "Mimi's" greatest joy was spending time with her precious family.
 
A family graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2:00
p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2022, in the sanctuary at Second Presbyterian Church, officiated by Associate
Pastor Alisa Secrest. A reception at the church will follow. ln lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, Pastor's Discretionary Fund, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72227, or a favorite charity. Stephanie and family I’m so sorry for the loss of your beautiful sweet mom. I enjoyed all our visits we had through the years. Her kind sweet voice was so wonderful to hear every time we spoke on the phone or visited in her kitchen. A true lady and I loved her.

Bill and family, So sorry to learn of Julie's passing. I recall her Southern charm and grace during her visits with Doc & Janie at PV, a few moons ago! I trust the Lord will provide you all with comfort and His peace in the days ahead.

Julie was a remarkable woman who could do almost anything with Grace and poise. Tommy and SUSAN send deepest sympathies to Bill snd Stephanie and their families. Tommy remembers Dr and Mrs Headstream very fondly. Our affection for the Haughts runs deep- SUSAN and Tommy SCHALLHORN

Reflecting on Julie and half a century of being family our void is enormous but faith assures her reunion with parents and grandparents she cherished I’m saddened but Julie is now eternal. Love from Nina and Steve
