Biography: Hervey Franklin Houser, Jr. passed away on February 22, 2022 – a “twosday” if you will – and is finally at peace. He was such an incredible person, to try and fit it into this space would be a disservice. He was born April 26, 1951, to Elta Falls and Hervey Franklin Houser, Sr. in Wynne, Arkansas. Growing up there would leave lasting memories.

He went to New Hampshire for college, graduating in 1973 from Dartmouth. Then he moved back to Arkansas. From the early days starting up stereo and record stores in Fayetteville with friends to his time in a well-established career as a public servant for the State, he will be dearly remembered by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Three children, Harrison, Hayden, and Rhodes Houser will carry on his name. His cherished legacy of a willingness to help others, being an outstanding father, and being a trusted friend to many will continue. Hervey will be missed deeply and remembered always.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church, 4401 Woodlawn Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205.

Condolences and prayers for Hervey's family. I met Hervey years ago when I worked UAF graduated school admissions in the early 80s and Hervey was in my part of the alphabet for processing. He popped in multiple times to check the status of his transcripts from Dartmouth ( apologizing profusely for his undergrad GPA with a wink and grin ). He was so friendly and charismatic and all of us were charmed. He was so memorable that almost 40 years later, he's one of the few I processed that I remember . God Bless and rest in peace.

When Patrick called last week to pass along the information, we talked for a long time about how Hervey contributed to our time in
Little Rock. Hervey was a light at DCC where we both worked. He was kind and helpful, a positive contributor to our lives and a significant positive influence on Patrick. We both will be forever grateful for our time with him.

Hervey was my boss in the 70's, at White Dog in Fayetteville. He was a good friend and boss, and was always kind and generous toward me. I've always remembered him fondly and am sorry for your loss.
