Biography: Anne McRae Crosby, a wonderful mother, grandmother, and truly elegant woman passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021. Anne was born on December 11, 1944 and raised in Scott, Arkansas at The Cottonwoods, where she and her siblings spent many summer days swimming in Old River Lake. She went to Scott schools in the early grades and graduated in 1962 from North Little Rock High School. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, later graduating with a BA in Speech Pathology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She worked for the Little Rock School District for 28 years as a speech pathologist where she will be forever remembered by the numerous lives she touched and changed. After retirement, Anne continued helping children by tutoring at the Scott Elementary Charter School. She also volunteered for the Pulaski County Humane Society and at the Maumelle Center on the Lake. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, the light of her life.

Anne was a member of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). She was also very involved with Scott Connections and served as the president for a number of years. She was a lifetime member of All Souls Church in Scott, Arkansas. She was very proud of where she came from and committed to helping that community continue to thrive.

Anne is preceded in death by her brother, John Pemberton McRae II, her mother, Jane Armour McRae, her father John Pemberton McRae, and the love of her life, Michael Bailey Crosby, Sr.

Anne and Mike shared 10 wonderful years together. Some of their most treasured times were spent cooking for their large blended family in their home. Many wonderful memories were made during these happy gatherings.

She will be dearly missed by her sons David Arthur Collins, Jr. (Cindy) and John Christopher Collins (Keli); grandchildren Samantha Grace Collins, Sarah LiYan Collins, and Samuel David Collins; sister Jane Thompson (John); nieces Caroline Jackson Morgon (David) and Laura Jackson Whitley (Blake) and their children Clair Whitley, Paige Whitley, and Jessica and John David Morgan; Michael Bailey Crosby Jr. (Susan) and sons Michael Bailey Crosby III and Miller Tomlinson Crosby; Howard W. Crosby (Anna), Haydon Page; Trey and Bailey Anne Allison.

At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial services. She will be buried alongside her parents and brother at Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Souls Church (4601 Walkers Corner Rd., Scott, AR 72142), Scott Connections (P.O. Box 214 Scott, AR 72142), or C.A.R.E. A note written by Anne:

9-5-2011
When I am on my deathbed (which I hope is no time soon) I want to reflect on a life that was not glamorous or exotic (I may not get to Scotland) but I will be surrounded by a loving family, knowing I have done my best to raise decent, loving human beings and that God and I are at peace together.

She didn’t make it to Scotland, but the rest is so true.

Anne Crosby is considered an "earthly angel" by my family. Her room was always a safe haven for our son while he was a student at McDermott Elementary school. Her love and concern for each of her students was very evident. She touched many lives and truly made a difference. We are so very thankful to have had her in our lives.

Anne was someone I always could not wait to see and talk to at ARKSHA conventions because she always had interesting stories and exuded genuine interest. She was always so gentle, kind and helpful. In my book, she was an extraordinary angel on this Earth. Even in her own painful times in life, she exemplified grace and love. May her memory be a blessing.

I remember the Good Ole Scott days when we were all young, busy, and not a worry in the world. However, time passes so quickly, and here we are.I am so sorry that you have gone, but you will surely be missed.
