Phyllis was my lifelong friend ! We were both born in Asbury Park, NJ. We lived next door to each other in matching houses. for as long as I can remember. Our homes shared a driveway & a garage, built overlooking Deal Lake. Both our parents owned restaurants and in the summers we had to help them, much to our chagrin ! We walked to school together everyday from kindergarten through Asbury Park High School. We decided to both attend the same college, Skidmore in Saratoga Springs, NY.
But J.C. Billingsley popped up out of Fort Monmouth, NJ and the next thing I knew was that I was the maid-of-honor at their wedding. Obviously, I attended Skidmore on my own.
About eight years later , I married Michael Carousis and to make a long story short, we became best friends ! We traveled all across the United States, visited many National Parks, and after a few years, both bought vacation homes in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
It was a friendship made in Heaven ! Now J.C., Michael & Phyllis will all be in heaven together, figuring out their next road trip ! May they rest in peace !
