Biography: Robert Charles Maher 53, of Little Italy passed away on July 20, 2007. He was born in London, England on January 11, 1954 and came to the United States at the age of 19. Robert is survived by his loving wife Lisa, his beloved son James of Plano, TX; stepdaughters, Gretchen Fleisher, Chappaqua, NY and Betsy Waddle of Bigelow, AR; his mother Clara Maher of Kent, England. Half-brothers Roy White, London, England and Ron White, Kent, England; brother Peter Maher of Kent, England and sister Pat Morton, Tacoma, WA and many cousins, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, George Maher. Robert was currently working in the Microbiology Lab at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and had previously worked in the Blood Bank Department at the American Red Cross. He was a talented photographer, loved all kinds of music and poetry and had that British sense of humor. He and his wife enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and backpacking. He was a hospice volunteer for several years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Winfield United Methodist Church, Highway 10 and Highway 300 with a visitation following.
