Biography: Monita Kelly Swaim, 92, of Little Rock died peacefully in-home Hospice December 14, 2020, surrounded by her daughter, her grandchildren and her cherished dog, Cassie. She was affectionately called Memo by everyone, a childhood nickname. She was just the best mother and grandmother anyone could ask for with a kindness, sweetness, and joyfulness for everyone she met. She especially enjoyed her many nieces and nephews, and her daughter's and grandchildren's friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Swaim, in 2016 after 67 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Jones, and son in law, Dr. John C. Jones of Little Rock. Grandchildren she adored include Jordan Rhodes (Noah) of Greenwich, CT, Jamie Jones, Barrett Norton (Andrew) and Collier Jones, all of Little Rock.Her great-grandchildren she spoiled terribly include Scottie, Fourth and Georgie Rhodes and Tucker and Brooks Norton.
Monita was a career woman her whole life holding positions at National Old Line Insurance Company, Brooks Pollard Advertising Agency, The Office on Aging under Governor Winthrop Rockefeller's administration and finally as a business manager for Drs. Alstadt and Redmond until her retirement. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling and gardening on their farm in Lonoke, AR, volunteer work at UAMS, rocking sick babies at Arkansas Children's Hospital and working in the nursery at First Baptist Church,her church for over 50 years.
A family service will be held at a later date. Our family would like to thank Dr. Morgan Sauer and his wonderful Hospice team. Memorials can be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital or IFB Solutions, formerly Arkansas Lighthouse for the Blind, a non-profit organization where her granddaughter works as the company's nurse.
