Biography: Don Ward died December 7, 2020 from complications of a stroke. Don was born July 18, 1942 in Coleman, Texas to Albert Leon and Ada Elizabeth Ward. He grew up in Denver City. Bess and Leon died in 1998, hours apart.

Survivors are his wife, Rebecca Fuller Ward; his daughter, Jessica Sigmon and her husband Dr. Clay Sigmon of Oklahoma City, and their daughters Grace and Alice; his son, Dr. Daniel Smith and his wife Jennifer of Little Rock, and their children, Zachary Overton, Caroline and Camille Smith. Zach and his wife Amber recently added their son Noah to the family.

There will be no formal services at Don’s request and restrictions of COVID-19.

Any memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.

After his big stroke in 2015, Don faced his difficulties like he did a bad shot in golf: with great skill, optimism, and grace, he was my hero. He said many many times “I’m the luckiest man on the planet.”

Rebecca and family. John and I were so sad to hear of Don’s death. You know we adored him as everyone did. What a huge personality and sparkling funny wit. And what a golfer! It was terrible to see him struggling after the stroke. He’s playing a beautiful game in Heaven now ! We loved being your neighbors on Edgewood and will always remember him and you. Love and prayers to you all❤️

Don lived and loved with a twinkle in his eye and a warm smile. Remember his laughter and feel the joy he found every day. Camellias and pansies and violas bloom this time of year to brighten our days and warm hearts in need. Peace to Rebecca and all of Don’s loved ones.

Don was one of my favorite customers to visit. He always had a smile and a positive attitude. Loved his story of how the heron would come up from the river to the house and eat the goldfish out of his koi pond. Condolences from Freeze Specialty Cleaners.

I played golf with Don for many years at PVCC and enjoyed competing against him in many tournaments even though I usually came in second place to him. He was a great golfer and a great man and will be missed by many. Rest in peace my friend.

My deepest condolences goes out to Rebecca and Don's family. I met Don when I joined Pleasant Valley Country Club and was privileged to sit at the 'Table of Knowledge' and play some golf with him. He always made me laugh and always made golf fun to play with him. I will miss Wardsy as he was one of the nicest persons I have ever met. The world has lost a true gentlemen but heaven has gained someone who will put a smile on your face when you meet him. God bless to Don's family for their loss.
