Biography: Linda Lou Cheatham Smothers, 77, of Lonoke died Sunday, November 29, 2020. She was born in Little Rock on November 10, 1943. In addition to her husband of 57 years, Robert J. Smothers, she is survived by her daughter Meredith A. Pour (Mehdi) of Palm Springs, Calif., her daughter-in-law Julie L. Smothers, her brother John C. Cheatham, Jr., and three grandchildren, C. Blake Watson (Brandy), Lee C. Smothers (Makaleigh), and Brooke M. Smothers, and one great-granddaughter, Stella Watson. She was predeceased by her son Col. Robert C. Smothers and her parents Jo Robertson Cheatham and John Cabell Cheatham.
She graduated from Little Rock Public Schools. She was an Elder in the Lonoke Presbyterian Church where she was an active member for many years. She worked for 39 years in the Lonoke Public Schools as a paraprofessional in the kindergarten program, showing love for the children she was blessed to work with while demonstrating love for her work.
Linda taught her own children and grandchildren by example to value family and to care for those who needed care and attention. She had many dear friends and will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling, particularly visiting family in Europe and the Middle East.

Friends may view Linda from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2020, at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 West Markham St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72205. Due to health concerns, the family will not be present for the time of viewing.
