Biography: Martha Smith Campbell, 90, of Little Rock died on November 6th, 2020. She was born December 18, 1929, to Marguerite Wetzel Smith and Fred B Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Davies Baker Campbell, and their daughter, Melissa Campbell Carroll, along with an older sister, Patricia Smith Yonow.
Martha was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the All Saints Guild. She was a graduate of Little Rock High School, Class of 1948, and attended Little Rock Junior College and Arkansas State Teachers College. She graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine, receiving a degree of medical technology.
In her earlier years, she was active in community affairs, including the Parent Teacher Association and Girls Scouts of America in her children’s schools, the Petite Rock Quarters Club, the Twentieth Century Club, Gay Blades social club, past president of Bas Bleu social club, and the Arkansas Glass Club. She also served on the boards of the YWCA, United Cerebral Palsy, the Pulaski County Health and Welfare Council, and as treasurer of the Junior League of Little Rock. As an honorary member of Zeta Tau Alpha, she enjoyed the comradery of the “Lunch Bunch”.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Sarah Anne Campbell Fink (Danny) of Crown Point, Indiana; son-in-law Steve Carroll of Fayetteville, AR; six grandchildren: Clark Carroll (Meredith) of Fayetteville, AR, Clay Carroll (Shannon) of Houston, Texas, Caroline (Cody) Lee of Zionsville, IN, Aubrey (Collin) King of Fort Worth, Texas, Christian Fink of Indianapolis, IN, and Emily (Nick) Fink of Zionsville, Indiana. Martha adored her six great-grandchildren: Kennedy Carroll, Melissa, Walker and Graham Carroll, and Callie and Cade Lee.
There will be a family graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 West 17th Street, Little Rock, AR 72206, the Susan Komen Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
