Art taught me first year contracts, and later a more advanced course I no longer recall. He hired me to do research for him for a year, and I got to know him from those more private times as a man of great intellect and good humor. His legacy is thousands of students who knew contract law, and myriad charitable endeavors that aided thousands more. We will miss him.

My sympathy to his family. He contributed so much with his time and experience as a volunteer at the Cytogenetics Lab. I enjoyed visiting with him during lunch/breaks as well as when he occasionally came to some of our after work lab get togethers. If I remember correctly, he also did volunteer work landscaping at the law school. We liked discussing our flower gardening endeavors and the lab was always a benefactor if he had something blooming in his yard...he will be very missed by us all.

Taught me Contracts in my first year of law school 1977.
We affectionately called him "flipper" because he was always
having us flip from one page to another in comparing cases.
Helluva nice guy with a great sense of humor!

Prof. Murphey was a joy! I never had the privilege of taking a class from him, but he often visited the library. I always enjoyed the roses he brought us from his rose garden! He was always cheerful and kind. He is missed!

Prof. Murphey was one of the the wittiest law professors I had. He taught me contracts and property during my first year of law school, 1975-76. We remained friends for years, and he frequently sent me humorous materials about law and life. He will be sorely missed.
