Biography:

David Kennedy "Ken" Brock of Little Rock died April 14, 2020. He was born June 30, 1945 in Palm Springs, California, where his father, George Ken Brock was stationed with his mother, Vonnie Conley Brock, during WWII.

Ken grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Central High School and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was a proud Lambda Chi and avid Razorback football fan. He enjoyed a long career as a CPA, business consultant and investor. To family, Ken was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. To business colleagues, Ken was a valuable counselor and advisor. To friends, there never was a more reliable or generous soul. And to strangers, Ken could be counted on for kindness and a helping hand.

He loved to fly airplanes and obtained his pilot license in his early 20's. Ken maintained and kept restored his 1972 warbonnet yellow Corvette Stingray. You could find him floating in a boat up and down the Arkansas River on a pretty day, and he loved to travel to the beaches of the Cayman Islands or to see a concert in Las Vegas.

Ken kept up with childhood friends and former co-workers throughout his life. He was a constant in the lives of his family and was always willing to lend time, money and expertise on everything from business endeavors, home buying, tax advice and even driving lessons.

He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Lynn Brock, sons Roby (Stephanie) and Chris (Mitzi), stepsons Chris (Rebecca) and Mark (Debbie) Johnson, grandchildren Tucker and Conley Brock, Baker (Victoria) Helton, Darby and Avery Johnson, and his very special aunt, Susie Conley. He leaves behind a widely cast net of friends and colleagues.

For the last eight years, Ken battled kidney and liver failure. He and his family want to thank many of his caregivers through the years, including "Lora and the girls" who brought him back to life during his Mayo Clinic stay in 2012; Dr. Alex David and his staff; the many caregivers at Baptist Health and CARTI; his "family" at Fidelity Home Dialysis Clinic; and Tommy Tatum.

At Ken's request, there will be no formal funeral service, but there will be a celebration of his life to be announced at a later time when we can all safely be with one another.

Lynn and boys, so very sorry for your loss. What a great guy Ken was. It seems like just yesterday we were working late into the nights to put the deal together to buy the bank in Van Buren-March 1977! Wow! Privileged to work with him and to have him as a friend!

We at CARTI will be missing him greatly. He always had an interesting story to tell, and was always upbeat no matter his condition. By reading the other posts I can see he truly was a great man.

So very sorry to hear about Ken and wish I had done a better job of staying in contact with him the past few years. Ken treated me like a little sister and liked to teach me things about accounting when I worked for him at Lloyd Haigh Brock & Co back in the mid to late 70's; I always appreciated that. Ken had one of the biggest hearts of anyone I've ever known and had such an impact on so many and I know he will be sorely missed. Lynn, Roby and Chris my prayers are with you during this difficult time.

We couldn’t have asked for a better neighbor.
Ken’s generosity, wealth of information, and his stories will be greatly missed. The shared love of the river will always be with us and we will think of him often when having a diet Coke on our deck.

I started at Peat Marwick in 1968, One of my mentors was Ken. He and I worked together until 1970, when I left to work for IBM. I remember many talks and audits with Ken. He even took me flying, since I was trying to learn to fly. We were making an approach one day to the LR airport and it was very windy. We were all over the approach and Ken asked me if I was nervous. I replied, no, you have as much to lose as I do. He never forgot that. I lost track of Ken unfortunately, in this busy life we lead, but, I will never forget him. My thoughts and prayers for the family. Please advise when the service will be and I will attend. To the entire Brock family my deepest and sincerest condolences! I could write pages and pages about Mr. Brock and the impact he had on my life. He was truly an amazing and tremendous blessing to my daughter and I. He taught me so much about pushing through life struggles with his acts of kindness and wisdom. Mrs. Brock and family I’m lifting you in prayer! I’m blessed to have been able to meet and be connected to such a great man and family... He will Truly be missed.

Among many things, Ken was a “charter & lifetime member of the CPA Discussion Group”.
Ken was always upbeat, and contributed much to all of us, even during his illness. He will be missed by many!
