Biography:
David Kennedy "Ken" Brock of Little Rock died April 14, 2020. He was born June 30, 1945 in Palm Springs, California, where his father, George Ken Brock was stationed with his mother, Vonnie Conley Brock, during WWII.
Ken grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Central High School and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was a proud Lambda Chi and avid Razorback football fan. He enjoyed a long career as a CPA, business consultant and investor. To family, Ken was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. To business colleagues, Ken was a valuable counselor and advisor. To friends, there never was a more reliable or generous soul. And to strangers, Ken could be counted on for kindness and a helping hand.
He loved to fly airplanes and obtained his pilot license in his early 20's. Ken maintained and kept restored his 1972 warbonnet yellow Corvette Stingray. You could find him floating in a boat up and down the Arkansas River on a pretty day, and he loved to travel to the beaches of the Cayman Islands or to see a concert in Las Vegas.
Ken kept up with childhood friends and former co-workers throughout his life. He was a constant in the lives of his family and was always willing to lend time, money and expertise on everything from business endeavors, home buying, tax advice and even driving lessons.
He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Lynn Brock, sons Roby (Stephanie) and Chris (Mitzi), stepsons Chris (Rebecca) and Mark (Debbie) Johnson, grandchildren Tucker and Conley Brock, Baker (Victoria) Helton, Darby and Avery Johnson, and his very special aunt, Susie Conley. He leaves behind a widely cast net of friends and colleagues.
For the last eight years, Ken battled kidney and liver failure. He and his family want to thank many of his caregivers through the years, including "Lora and the girls" who brought him back to life during his Mayo Clinic stay in 2012; Dr. Alex David and his staff; the many caregivers at Baptist Health and CARTI; his "family" at Fidelity Home Dialysis Clinic; and Tommy Tatum.
At Ken's request, there will be no formal funeral service, but there will be a celebration of his life to be announced at a later time when we can all safely be with one another.
