Biography: Rodney (Rod) Cottrell, of Little Rock, Arkansas and The Woodlands, Texas, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 at age 85. He graduated from Catholic High in Little Rock, Arkansas, and worked as a geophysicist after graduation from St. Louis University. Rod's specialty was finding off-shore oil in the Gulf of Mexico. At retirement he was vice-president of Walter Oil & Gas in Houston, Texas.

Rod is survived by his wife Ann West and Labrador Retriever Champ of Little Rock; two sisters, a brother, and his children: One son, two daughters and twin granddaughters.

In addition to his family, Rod loved football, baseball, and golf and recently made his first hole-in-one on one of the happiest days of his life. He loved to read, travel, dine out with friends, and attend classes at LifeQuest of Arkansas. A member of the Bowen-Cabe Sunday School at First United Methodist Church in Little Rock, he was also an usher at The Rep and willing driver for his wife Ann.

No celebration of life services will be held at this time. Memorials in Rod's name can be made to LifeQuest of Arkansas, P. O. Box 25523, Little Rock, AR, 72221.

Bill and I are very sorry to learn of Rod’s death. You have both been through so much recently. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you navigate your grief and this next phase of your life.

Ann, we are so sorry to hear about this. We did not know Rod well, but well enough to know that he meant the world to you. Our hearts to out to you at this trying time.

Ann, so very sorry for your loss. I hope Champ will give you lots of 'hugs,' since we are all caught "in place," at this time, and, unable to do so. Sending good thoughts your way.

Rod and I had many things in common. We both loved watching the Houston Astros , playing golf, and reading( he loaned me many books on a variety of topics). Susan and I enjoyed many conversations with Ann and Rod. We will miss you my friend. RIP
