John Charles Novelle

Jun 25th, 1955 - Mar 29th, 2020

Biography:

John Charles Novelle, a business owner and resident of Maumelle, AR, died unexpectedly on March 29th, 2020 at the age of 64 in his home.

John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and David Strout; step-son, Kevin Spangler; sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and Mike Burk; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Susan Novelle; and granddaughters Kristin Kumpe and Kodi Strout. He is predeceased by his father, Charles John Novelle and mother, Carmella Bavaro-Novelle.

John was born in Paterson, NJ on June 25th, 1955. He devoted his life to the recovery community, owning three drug and alcohol treatment centers, partnering and assisting in a number of local recovery programs, and volunteering countless hours of service to others in need. John was loved by many, surrounded by a host of friends that were more like family. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and loved his three girls more than life itself. He enjoyed golf, football, gardening, volunteering, and playing cards every Friday night with his friends. John was a ray of sunlight to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. May he forever walk in the Sunlight of the Spirit.

A funeral service will not be held at this time. A memorial service will be scheduled and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask instead to make a donation in his name to Serenity Park Recovery Center of Little Rock (2711 W. Roosevelt Rd. Little Rock, AR 72204).

John lived in Maumelle and JZ and I were a next-door neighbor for almost 10 years. He was quiet person who kept to himself for the most part, but he had a good heart and checked on us when he thought he needed to. He even cut our bushes on occasion when he thought they needed it. We will miss him and our prayers go out to his family and friends.

It’s so hard to believe you are gone. You would never believe how much I have learned from you. For some reason everything you said to me always stuck and I would share it with my fellows. I never realized what a blessing it was to have you in my life.. even the most simplest things like us riding together to Saturday morning meetings, after you survived the latest, all of our talks about our stories and how we both are so lucky to have overcome our situations. I never knew what a blessing it would be to drive “Sir John” to his favorite place each weekend. You would check on me at the most appropriate times. ALWAYS.

You were such a good listener even when I would call you to try and “ teach you something from the big book” when you already knew (everybody already knew). I’ll miss our talks, and our mutual love for football and our rides and so much more.
Words cannot ever express how much I cherish the time that I got to spend with you. I know that you are gone but you will live on in my heart and and so many others forever. I will never forget you sitting at that table everyday at 5:30. You not only have taught me but so many others when it comes to life and recovery and your legacy will live on. I love you Novelle.
