Biography:

Frances Bovick Jansen, 94, of Little Rock, passed away on April 1, 2020 from complications of COVID-19.

Born to the late Ann and Julius Bovick on November 1, 1925 in Omaha Nebraska, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Gerald Thomas Jansen, and her brother, William Bovick of Omaha.  She is survived by her five children, Mark (Cindy); Kurt (DeOnna); Anne (Ralph Broadwater); Drew (Jimmy Martin); Fran Jansen Webb; and her sister, Lydia Seely of Kirkland, WA. Lovingly remembering their grandmother are Neal Jansen (Mariko) of Osaka, Japan; Suzanne (Caleb Yerton) of Ft. Smith; Ben Jansen (Brady) of Lincoln City, OR; Spencer and Brooks Jansen (McKinsey), John and Michael Broadwater, and Grace Webb, all of Little Rock.  She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Her children and their spouses will hold a private funeral and burial service.  A memorial Mass will be scheduled at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock on a date to be determined once the threat of spreading the Coronavirus has subsided.

Our family wishes to recognize the dedicated nurses, CNAs, administrators and all of the other workers at Briarwood Nursing and Rehab in Little Rock. Your unselfish devotion and relentless efforts will forever be in our hearts. God bless you all.

Out of an abundance of caution during this pandemic, in lieu of cards, flowers or bereavement dishes, the family encourages you to please donate to Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church Music Program, or the Msgr. Allen Trust & Development Fund at Holy Souls.  Online donations may be made at holysouls.org, or by mail to Holy Souls Church, 1003 North Tyler St., Little Rock, AR 72205.

Drew, Anne, Fran, Mark and Kurt: May God grant you strength at this time of loss. It is also a time of celebration of a life well lived of a beautiful smart woman who was so loved and admired by so many. I first met your parents when I was a student at Catholic High. They were always so nice to me. Over the years I would see them at almost every Catholic related event. They would always greet me warmly with those beatific smiles of theirs ! I got to know them well. They were such a well-dressed, elegant couple. Very classy and gracious to all. Your mother was the epitome of a strong Catholic woman who loved our country and her family totally. She was so proud of each of you ( and the grandchildren and the great grands ) and justifiably so. We shared many of the same views on politics and life in general. I will miss her radiant smile ! However, I know that she is joyfully reunited with Dr. Jansen in Heaven along with all of our other loved ones who have passed away. May she rest in the Peace of Christ. Dr. Mark, Cindy, and rest of family,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your Mother. We did not know her, but Dr. Mark was our doctor for many years in Arkadelphia. We also knew Cindy and watched Anne on TV for however long she was there. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each of you and can only imagine the heartaches as you can't even have the closure you should be able to have.
We miss you terribly, Dr. Mark.

Dear Anne and Jansen Family,
Please know our thoughts and prayers have been and will continue to be with all of you at the passing of your mom. We will always treasure being able to visit with your mom at Briarwood on our anniversary last year and bring flowers to her, as your mom and dad, and especially your mom, saw the relationship potential with respect to Janet and myself almost 20 years ago at the Wednesday evening mass at Holy Souls. Theirs was generally the first anniversary card we always received, and your mom carried the tradition on so wonderfully and faithfully. We will treasure having been able to pay the kindness and thoughtfulness back last year, and even more being able to be with her and you as she shared the story her courtship and marriage to your dad. It was more than a coincidence that Janet's mom's stay in rehab there at Briarwood overlapped over the course of a month in September of last year. Otherwise, we're not sure if we would have known of her care there. It made for such a special moment for us, and we can't thank you enough or all that you did to make it possible for us to do that. Again, our thoughts and prayers are with all you as a family, but knowing that your mom and dad are together again and in the loving embrace of God is, hopefully, a comfort to you all.
Love and God bless,
John and Janet Breen

Mark and family ,
We were so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. She was a lovely lady and always gracious when we visited back in the med school days.
We are sad that because of this pandemic we are unable to demonstrate our love and caring in the traditional ways. Please know we are thinking of you and your entire family and sending prayers and hugs. ❤️

Ann, and the rest of the family, I met your sweet mother quite a long time ago at Melvin's. I formed a very precious (to me) friendship with her. She was so kind and sweet to me. My grandson would visit me and your mother was so good to him. He adored her too. He died from the flu at age 8, two years ago, and I never told your mother. I knew it would upset her. She missed your dad so much I know she is happy to be with him. She was a beautiful, talented lady who loved her family with all her heart. I wanted you all to know that she made such a strong impression on me and my grandson. God blessed you with her and I am glad you have such good memories. Love to your family, Sandra

It’s almost as if a member of my family has died. Not a close relative but rather a beloved second cousin whom I visited with at family reunions. When we arrived in Little Rock back in 1979, it was Tom who attended to the four of us. Then we met Fran, who, it turned out, shared a love of big band music with me. I well remember bringing greetings from her to Frankie Carle, the man whose band was graced by Fran’s youthful voice decades earlier. Soon I met Anne and Fran the Younger. Drew came into the picture for me when, in Minneapolis, he and a small troupe put on a special performance for my college reunion group. My heart goes out to the family of this remarkable woman.
