Carolyn Joyce Colvert Moore

Carolyn Joyce Colvert Moore

Jul 30th, 1932 - Mar 16th, 2020

Biography: Carolyn Joyce Moore (87) joined the Lord in heaven on March 16, 2020.  She was the daughter of James and Gladys Colvert.  She graduated from DeWitt High School and was valedictorian of her class.

Carolyn graduated from Hendrix College in Conway where she was the first female student in the business school.  She graduated in 1954 and was the Homecoming Queen her senior year.  After graduation she married her football captain sweetheart, Ed Moore.  They were married for 65 wonderful years.  They also worked together in a number of their businesses over the years.  Their devotion and love of each other was unparalleled.  Their intuition of each other’s moods or feelings was an amazing thing to witness.

Carolyn loved music, beagles and her family most of all.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she spent many days with them and their friends as they played and swam in the swimming pool at her house.  She was also blessed to be able to meet and hold her great grandson before her health deteriorated.  Her dementia caused her to be unable to communicate with her family which made the last several years of her life very difficult.

Special thanks to the caregivers at The Waters of Woodland Hills, Kindred Hospice and her cousin, Mary Jean Dabbs, who always made regular Sunday visits for the long 3 years Carolyn was bedridden.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband Ed, son Mike (Jane), grandsons Sean, Jeffrey (Julie) and Colin (Elizabeth) and her great grandson Paxton.

A family visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home this week followed by burial at Roselawn Cemetery.  A memorial service and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

Carolyn was such a dear person. She lived next door to us in DeWitt had been my babysitter. She was Homecoming Queen at DeWitt, and at age 4, I carried her crown! I saw her from time to time into the 2000s and always enjoyed each visit.

Carolyn was a cherished member of our family. She was kind, caring and interesting. I always admired the energy she and Ed put into grandparenting. They were totally involved in their grandchildren's lives. Love to all of you: Mike, Ed and the extended family.

I will always treasure my wonderful visit I had with Carolyn and Ed many years ago. Though we had many miles separating us, my heart always had such happy memories of being with her. She had me laughing 'till my side split and I knew I loved her dearly. I am so sorry for the family's loss but am picturing her whole and happy in heaven. I also want to say that the obituary is one of the sweetest ones I have ever read. It fits Carolyn perfectly. And---thank you Mary Jean for your visits. I love you too.
