Biography: Ruth Curtis Wright Zelnick, born October 17, 1920 in Ancon, Canal Zone (Panama) died peacefully June 19, 2007. Ruth was born, raised and resided in the Panama Canal Zone until 1974. She was a gifted pianist and organist, an avid fisherman, bridge player, wordsmith and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked for IAGS and taught piano, but her passion was her family and many friends. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Ernest W. Zelnick. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Carol Richmond and husband James of Essex, CT; John M. Zelnick and wife Nancy, Houston, TX; and Dr. Paul W. Zelnick and wife Jan, of Little Rock. There are 8 grandchildren: Scott Richmond and Emily Warren; Murray, Paul Richard, Leila and David Zelnick; Captain Marc W. Zelnick and Julie Zelnick. She had 8 great-grandchildren: Jake, Charlie and Cassandra Warren; Charlotte and Katherine Richmond; and Parker, Melanie and Karen Zelnick. Since leaving the Zone, Ruth has lived in Hendersonville, N.C., Grand Isle, VT, Broken Arrow, OK and Little Rock, AR. Her family is grateful for her love and celebrate a life well lived. A memorial service will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home on Saturday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Arkansas Hospice or the charity closest to your heart.
