Biography:

Megan Raney, of Little Rock, AR, died March 3rd, 2020, at the age of sixty-one.  She was born May 1, 1958, the youngest daughter of Robert "Bob" William Raney, Sr. and Miriam Day Raney.

In her early years, Megan attended Jean Anthony’s Kindergarten, McDermott Elementary School, and Parkview High School (class of 1976) and loved playing tennis with family and friends at Rebsamen Park.  Megan went on to study marketing at Southern Methodist University where she was a Chi Omega, and she graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1984 with a BBA in finance.  After graduating from college, Megan worked for Dillards Department Stores as a buyer and then for various fashion labels.  She traveled extensively in her role as Regional Sales Manager for Tommy Hilfiger, USA.  Later in her career, Megan worked as a Real Estate Advertising Sales Account Executive at the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

Megan is predeceased by her parents Bob Raney, Sr. and Miriam Raney and her sister, Miriam "Mimi" Raney.  Megan leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Robert "Bobby" Raney, Jr. (Pam), and sister Kevin Raney of Little Rock, AR, two nephews Robert W. Raney, III (Michelle) of Houston, TX, and Patrick D. Raney of Denver, CO, and her great niece Katherine Mei Raney of Houston, TX, as well as numerous cousins and lifelong friends.

Megan loved to travel including girls’ trips with her mother and sisters domestically and abroad, holiday trips to Houston, TX, and many trips to visit Mimi in Santa Fe, NM, where she developed a love of Native American art and jewelry.  Megan had a loving heart and helped care for Mimi during her fight with cancer and also her mother who lived into her mid-90s.  Megan had a special bond with her sister Kevin who she shared dinner with on most nights.  She had a lifelong love of animals and was passionate about volunteering at the Humane Society of Pulaski County where she and her dear friends helped rescue so many deserving pets.

Memorial service for family and friends will be Monday, March, 9th, 2020, at 10am, Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, Little Rock, AR, with reception to follow.

Megan loved animals much more than flowers.  In lieu of sending flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to the animal rescue group of your choice in Megan's honor.

Megan became such a friend as she served Edward and me as our advertising contact at the DemGaz for so many years. Her friendship was a real bonus on top of the excellent job always great with follow up and helping us with advertising decisions. And, personally always a joy to visit with. Edward and I are so sad to lose her presence, always with a positive attitude and ready smile.

Megan was truly one in a million her love of others showed anytime she met you. She took the time to stop by my office not long after I started and immediately we were friends. I don’t think Megan ever met a stranger. And of course my love for kitty cats we had shared a instant love. My thoughts and prays will be with Megans family and close friends. She will be greatly missed. If you knew her you loved her. I was blessed to know and love her.

Bobby and all the Raney family, Elizabeth and I are saddened to hear of the death of your wonderful sister, Megan. I will always remember her sense of humor and her beautiful smile.

Our prayers are with your family that you may find comfort that Megan is in Heaven, probably having a good laugh with St. Peter.
