Biography:

Randall Alvin “Randy” Wyatt, 68, passed away March 3, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Randy was born on January 3, 1952 to Hurtis and Gussie Wyatt, who proceeded him in death.

After graduating from Hall High School, Randy attended Ouachita Baptist University and UALR. His career path led him from the sales and marketing of heating and air conditioners to the marketing department at ARKLA. Soon his ability to make friends and influence people was recognized, and he was moved to the governmental affairs department to begin his career as a lobbyist. During recent years, Randy has worked to improve long term health care in Arkansas. Before his illness, he was the President and CEO of Community Compassion Centers of Arkansas, a non-profit long-term health care provider.

Randy was proud to have lived all his years in Little Rock and spent many hours volunteering in his community and church. After graduating from the first class of the Greater Little Rock Leadership Institute, and serving as both Chairman and on the Board of Directors, Randy received the Institute’s Distinguished Leadership Award given to an individual who has distinguished himself in a significant leadership role and has a history of community service. Randy spent many years as a Riverfest volunteer. He served as Chairman of the Riverfest Board the controversial year that Riverfest first charged one dollar for a three day admission button. Randy also served on the boards of the Wolfe Street Foundation and the Arkansas Alzheimer’s Association. In 2009, the American Health Care Association awarded Randy with the Joe V. Warner Award for showing exceptional dedication to the welfare of the elderly and Americans with disabilities.  Randy was also a past member of the Little Rock Jaycees and a member of The Rotary Club of Little Rock Metro. In January, Randy celebrated his 32nd sobriety birthday with members of the Cosmopolitan Group of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Randy’s legacy of volunteerism includes many activities with his family. He spent 17 coaching in the Hillcrest Neighborhood Softball League. As an Indian Princess dad, he served as Chief of the Chippewa Nation. At Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, he volunteered with youth programs, taught Sunday School and was a member of Men Alive. Randy’s favorite community and church volunteer hours were spent cooking for large groups, often grilling with the barbecue sauce he made from his grandfather’s recipe.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Gay; his daughters and sons-in-law, Tiffany and Josh Rowe and Sara Beth and Jonathan Leader; his grandchildren, Joshua Wyatt Rowe, Madison Grace Rowe and Alexis Faith Rowe; and his sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Steven Russell.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held Tuesday, March 10, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. followed by a reception in Gathering Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Randy and Gay Wyatt Youth Endowment Fund, Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Foundation, 4823 Woodlawn, Little Rock, AR 72207 or to #Not Today, nottodaybraincancer.squarespace.com.

Gay,
So sorry to read of Randy’s passing. I am watching a college basketball game and was thinking about the days we spent playing ball at Westpark. He always came dressed to play a fun game. I know you and family miss him terribly. He was truly one of a kind. Ironic I was thinking of him exactly one year after his passing. I had no idea. Hope you are doing ok and I very sorry.

Gay and family, Pete and I were sorry to learn of the loss of your beloved Randy. We were neighbors of Sonny and Gussie on Glen Drive when Randy was growing up. We were so proud of all his accomplishments and enjoyed keeping up with him. Our prayers are with you all.

Randy was my softball coach when I was a little girl playing with his little girl, Tiffany. I loved Randy very much and loved seeing him in the recent years as I enjoyed watching my daughters play on the same league now that I'm grown. I always would go up and speak to Randy and give him a hug. He was a very good man and he will be sorely missed when softball season comes around and I dont see him anymore. That makes me so sad to think about. He was a fixture for me at Allsop. He was always there with a smile and he was so easy to love. He would buy one hotdog with a $20 bill from his granddaughter, Lexi, and he'd always tell her, "keep the change". I admired Randy and adored him. I dont think I ever told him how much I liked him but I hope he knew with all my greetings and hugs. My deepest condolences to his family and all those who love him. Losing him is such a great loss. He felt like family to me. He reminded me of my wonderful uncle Terry Scoggins. And to be compared to him is of highest regard. Coach Randy, you are loved and missed and I will never forget you and I will think of you everytime I go to the field. I'm so glad that God put us here in the same place and same time so that I could get to know you. May you rest in peace and I love ya love ya love ya til i see ya again.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. We’ll always remember the surprise bottle of homemade BBQ sauce on our front porch at Christmas and the fun times cooking for Swamp Stomp. Randy always help add extra fun to any event every time we were around him. May you feel the peace and love of Jesus in the days to come.

Much love to your family during this difficult time. I had the good fortune to know and work with Randy during the time he led the Arkansas Health Care Association. He was a strong and passionate advocate for older and disabled citizens of his state, not to mention an all around great guy to work with. He will be greatly missed.

Wow! I knew Randy was a busy man, but I had no idea he was involved in so many organizations. He was never short on personality! I’ll always remember how comfortable he made everyone feel whenever there was a gathering. He always made us laugh. And his barbecue sauce was pretty memorable too! I’m so sorry that his life was cut short, but I’m happy you all have so many beautiful memories of him. From the looks of it, he had MANY friends that will miss him dearly. Lots of love to you and your family, Tiff.

Randy was a friend to many friends if Bill W. He was generous with his time and cared deeply for others. I remember and appreciate his many gifts to the Wolfe Street Foundation and our personal ongoing jokes of being less than a week apart in “walking through the doors”. He’s likely chairing the Big Meeting. May God bless you and your precious family.

My heart is broken to hear of Randy’s death , however, I know he is at rest now in the comfort of our Lord. Randy was a life saving ray of light for me when I stood in darkness.... He has remained a rock for me throughout these wonderful years of recovery!! I’ll always think of you, Gay, as his “Lovely Adorable Wife” . He so loved all of his family and spoke of you all constantly! My heart and prayers are with all of you...May God bless you with his peace. RIP Randy

I met Randy when he led the AHCA. He made AR known for building relationships in long term care where relationships had not been. He had an art for bringing people together. He could inspire a group of personal agenda driven professionals to a central focus that truly impacted real change. Randy had a presence everywhere he went. He will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family of whom he was so very proud! May God’s Blessings be with you during this time and always.

We knew Randy when he had long hair and was young and full of life. He worked for us for a number of years and even stayed with our children when we went out of town. So sorry for your loss.
