Mary Trieschmann Henry

Mary Trieschmann Henry

May 10th, 1924 - Feb 15th, 2020

Biography: . Mary Trieschmann Henry of Little Rock, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, left us on February 15, 2020 and met her Savior, Jesus.

She was born May 10, 1924 in Little Rock to John Werner and Cora Watson Trieschmann, graduated from Little Rock High School, and attended Little Rock Junior College as well as Texas State College for Women. She met and married the love of her life, Dr. Robert L Henry, Jr., and they established their home in Little Rock.

In 1951 Mary contracted polio and, though partially paralyzed, she worked tirelessly to recover her strength and, with God’s help, was able to mother three young sons and lead a full and active life.

She served in the PTA and other activities for her children. She participated in several charitable organizations, especially March of Dimes and American Cancer Society. She was a member and Past President of Twentieth Century Club and the Pulaski County Medical Auxiliary.

In 1958 she was a member of the Women’s Emergency Committee to Open the Public Schools. That group said, “The men have failed, it’s time to call out the women.”

While her favorite hobby was her family, Mary also enjoyed playing bridge with friends and was a master with any kind of needlework, like knitting, sewing, and rug making. She enjoyed being on the water and, in recent years, she loved spending time on her “boat” on Lake Ouachita.

She considered her greatest legacy to be her family. She is survived by her sons, Robert L. “Skip” Henry (Johnnie Mac), Richard Y. “Dick” Henry (Jan), and William T. “Bill” Henry (Susan) of Little Rock, eight grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren, and her sister, Virginia Pierson of Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-one years, Dr. Robert L. Henry, her parents, and two brothers.

She leaves the legacy she desired – a family that loved her dearly, admired her greatly and will miss her presence and wisdom in the years to come.

The family wishes to thank her special caregivers, Deborah Piggee, Brittany Piggee, Antoinette Perigrino, who gave her joy and quality of life in recent years.

A private family celebration of Mary’s life will be held by the family at a later date. Memorials may be made to March of Dimes, Processing Centre, P.O. Box 18819, Atlanta, GA 31126, or your favorite charity.
