Biography: Peggy Lopez Adams was 36 0n May, 27, 2007. Although she left this life on June 8, 2007, following a two-and-a half year battle with cancer, her spirit will remain with us forever. She is survived by her husband, Steve, daughters Chloe, 11, Simone, 9; and son Loic, 5. All three children were home schooled by Peggy. She was preceded by her father, Edwin Lopez, of Orlando, Florida. Additional survivors are her mother, Elba Lopez, and the families of her sister, Maxi, and brothers Edwin, Steven, and Clyde and 15 nieces and nephews, all of Orlando; and her mother and father in-law, Gay and Tom Adams and brothers-in-law Jason and Bryan Adams. She leaves countless friends, many admirers, and many more who, when reminded of her, will warmly recall their vivid first impressions of a tough, beautiful woman who never suffered fools. Though it’s too often said of others, it was indeed true that Peggy transformed the room just by being in it. Her energy and charm were infectious; they sweetened a strength of character driven by a stubborn honesty. It was easy to envy Peggy. She kept her whole family on their toes and had the respect of everyone she knew, whether she intimidated them or loved them or both. Peggy will be missed, and she will be celebrated. A memorial service will be held at Pulaski Heights Methodist Church on Thursday June 14th at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. A celebration of her life will be held for all the following Sunday. Peggy insisted that, instead of flowers, memorials be made in her name to the Open Arms Shelter, Post Office Box 161, Lonoke, Arkansas, 72086. openarmsshelter.org

5 years later, April 2012 ... While looking for long lost friends on Facebook & Google, I learned of Peggy's passing. I am so saddened. Peggy, who I nicknamed 'Murph the Smurf' was such a beautiful, vibrant spirit.

Rest in peace, my friend.

Dearest Steve and Family,

I just heard the news about Peggy. I am far away, but I am always close by when needed. I can always lend you an ear. I just wanted you to know I was thinking about you, and I can't tell you how sorry I am that the world has lost such an amazing person. Peggy was one of the most amazing women I ever knew. I recall the days of Midtown and Juanita's and how she always knew exactly what to do to make a night, day, event or just the smallest thing special and completely all her own.

Steve, my thoughts are with you and your children. No matter how much time you have to prepare for such a thing, you're never really ready for it. I will miss Peggy. She was so strong. I am always here if you need me - no matter how far away.

Love Always,
Heather Canady

I meet Peggy in girl scouts when we moved to Little Rock. Chole and my son Andrew hit it off and looked forward to girl scouts so they could see each other. Peggy didn't mind that my son stayed with the scout troop durring the meetings. She was a great person. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. My prayer will be with you and your family. God Bless you Elizabeth Coble

I knew Peggy from the community. I remember seeing her and those beautiful kids at the river market. Sometimes she would be at a function like Down-town Thursday, with her kids, enjoying music and friends. Later, I would see them on outings at the park when I would be there with my daughter. She was kind and encouraging as she extended an invite for me, to meet with her and the other home school parents when they brought their children to the park. I even remember seeing her working at Stickz a time or two.
She stuck out and made an impression. I did not know her well, but I admire Peggy and have always looked up to her. As a mother and wife, my heart is heavy. Peggy made a wonderful difference in this world. I'm thankful God allowed our paths to cross.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I had the honor of knowing her through play dates we shared with our children. Her love and devotion to Chloe, Simone and Loic were beautiful to behold. She taught me how to be a better mother.
