We learned you lost Joe while I (mike) was having heart surgery at St Michael in Texarkana. So very sorry that such a kind and caring person as Joe is gone. He did anesthesia for us at the small hospital in Hope and was a joy to work with. I was able to tell Dr Johnny Jones later the day I learned of the sad news and we reflected on our years with Joe at the head of the operating room table. In control, he kept a calmness to the room even in the most difficult situations. And in a small town hospital when often it was only one of us and Joe in the whole town, it was often difficult. Running from a difficult delivery to an emergency in the ER, Joe was there for it all. On those occasions when the newborn was floppy and needed to get resuscitated while at the same time mom was hemorrhaging, Joe never wavered. He would bag mom with one hand, have the baby rolled over to him on the warming table for work with the other, and give a short quiet comment to me, 'hey doc I got this up here, you take care of mom'. And he always did.
When times were frustrating or we were especially covered up in surgery, or ER, or labor unit patients, Joe would roll his eyes up and make one of those unique observations that only he could. He was funny beyond words, compassionate to all, and the most skilled anesthesia provider I have ever worked with.
From me and Nancy, and Dr Jones we give thanks that there was a person like Joe in our lives and we pray for you Jill, and the boys.

To my long time friend, rest in peace. Such great high school and college memories. Surviving each others wedding as groomsmen. I barely remember, as I was struggling to remain standing at your magic, special moment! Such a surprise to see you at the KU Leid Center, the night the Beach Boys rocked the house!
My sincere condolences to Jill, your family and especially Rita and Joe, senior.
