Biography: Field Kindley (Kin) Wasson, Jr., 61, of Little Rock, died Sunday, September 8, 2019.

Field was born January 23, 1958 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, son of Mary Ann Clinton and Field Kindley Wasson. He attended Siloam Springs High School, Class of 1976, where he was captain of the basketball team and won a state tennis championship. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1980, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and University of Arkansas School of Law in 1985.

Field was a charismatic and intelligent man. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone, except whatever team the Arkansas Razorbacks were playing. He served as Chief Legal Counsel to Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton until 1992, which he described as “the best job” he’d ever had, and held positions in banking and finance after that time. He married the love of his life, Nancy, on June 25, 1994 in a private ceremony in Anguilla. Most of all, he was proud of his children and their accomplishments, and was an invaluable source of advice and guidance. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Nancy Argo Wasson; daughter, Elizabeth Patricia Wasson of Charlotte, North Carolina; son, Field Kindley Wasson III of Fayetteville, Arkansas; step-daughter Jessica Stacy Totty of Wynne, Arkansas; sister Angela Wasson-Hunt (Stuart) of Kansas City, Missouri and brother Karl Clinton Wasson (Ann) of Duluth, Minnesota. He is also survived by step-grandchildren John Gracchus Shaver, Caroline Grace Shaver, and Audrey Argo Totty, as well as many nieces and nephews and numerous Argo family members.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 12 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the home of Tricia and Jim Fowler, 5314 Hawthorne Road, Little Rock, Arkansas. A celebration of Field’s life will be held at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas on September 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Nancy & Family,
I didn’t know of Field’s passing until I was going to acknowledge his birthday!
I’m still in shock and can’t even imagine the sorrow
and emptiness you and the children are experiencing!
Field and I worked together on the Wackenhut Corrections Project among other things during my Legislative and Lobbyist career.
My deepest sympathy to you and the family!
You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

Kin and I shared the same birth date on which we celebrated our 3rd and 13th birthday parties with childhood friends in Siloam Springs. He was always quick to laugh, kind, and laid-back, as I recall. A few years ago, we encountered each other after 44 years at the SSHS Class of 1976 40th Reunion. I am glad to have had a brief catch-up chat with Kin then and am grateful for the many good moments shared and memories we made in our original "home town."

Please accept our sincere condolences from Katy and I on the loss of Field. He was a wonderful man, intelligent, and full of joy. He was a true gentleman in our business, a quality hard to find. I am reminded of a quote from the book Lonesome Dove. “Cheerful in all endeavors, never shirked a task, splendid behavior.” He will be missed.

Oh my … these are the ones that catch you off guard. Field was such a good conversationalist , and so even-keeled. This was the time of year I would see him most - in Fayetteville for Hogs games. I will miss seeing him. Nancy your friends and family are here for you at this time. You two had a great relationship - cherish it forever. Andrew Meadors.
