Biography: Margaret (Margie) Garner Davis (61) was born in Arkadelphia, AR but lived her adult life in Little Rock. She was a woman of great faith who shared her testimony at every opportunity. Her extended battle with cancer gave her many such opportunities to encourage other patients and to give them hope. Margie surely fought the good fight and ran the race of life with faith, strength and dignity. She won the victory and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday night, July 21, 2019.

Margie was an inspiration to everyone by her courage and the example she set dealing with all the adversities she encountered with this insidious disease. She continued to live her life as normally as possible while enduring great challenges. She was and is loved by all who were blessed to know her and will be missed tremendously.

From her youth Margie enjoyed her years as a member of her church choir later making arrangements for their travels. Her special joy was working with the children’s choir leading them in productions for the church.

Margie was the fiscal officer for the Bureau of Legislative Research, a job she loved so much. She continued to work while taking huge doses of chemo and only gave it up when she was concerned that chemo brain would cause mistakes. She’d hold up a million dollar contract for a 37 cent mistake.

Margie is survived by her husband, Rick L. Davis; her son, Nathan Davis; her mother acquired by marriage to Rick, Nancy A. Davis; her brother acquired the same way, Steven D. Davis; her brother Reford Garner; her sister Barbara Armstrong; and her brother Jimmy Garner.

Margie is a member of Lifeway Baptist Church, 800 Wellington Village Road, LR, AR where services will be held: Friday, July 26, Visitation 12 noon, Service 1 p.m., Burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park 2 p.m. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.

If desired, memorials may be made to a cancer research center of your choice or Lifeway Baptist Church.

Rick and Nathan,

You are in our hearts and prayers these days to come. We rejoice with you in knowing that Margie is now enjoying her victory in and with our LORD and Savior, Christ Jesus- Alleluia! We mourn with you, however, because the loss of life without her on earth is great. Let the hope of the promises of the LORD sustain you in the days ahead for you will be together again. We have such loving memories of Margie- she had such a kind and gentle spirit. We will always remember her tremendous gift of coordinating our wedding, and all the fun gatherings that she so graciously hosted at your house- she was the BEST hostess! (We especially remember the fun time we had at your house during our Lord of the Rings marathon!). Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” With much love, Jody, Christine and Rachel Holland

I have not seen Margie in a long time but we were in choir together back when this church was Olivet Baptist Church on South Hughes. She was a very good alto. I know that she does love the Lord and it's going to be very hard on her family but she is in heaven now with the Lord and not hurting anymore. My late husband had cancer so I have a very good idea what she went through. My prayers and condolences for her husband Rick and all of the rest of her family.

Margie and I met when we both were committee secretaries, and she reminded me that we were some of the first to travel to out-of-town meetings. We knew each other a long time, and I always thought of her as a kind and caring friend, who was always willing to help. I especially appreciated her talent for cooking and decorating when we had an event to plan. Margie was a great listener, and I appreciated her outlook on life. Thank you for all you gave us, Margie. I will miss you.

I first met Margie when her and I went to school and rode the bus together. I knew her as Margaret then and after school we went separate ways. lol and behold I get hired on to work at the Bureau and we get offices next to each other. We talked about our childhood and developed a new friendship that will last the rest of my life. She was there to help me with my first child’s wedding and my second child’s baby. I will forever cherish her for the love she gave me and my family. Margie had such strength and compassion and God has given her an express ticket to his kingdom. I love you Margie.
