Stunned and saddened. I knew Rob well in high school (hiking trips to Isle Royale and Yellowstone stand out) and last saw him in college - wish I had kept up with him at least a little. Warmest wishes to his family.

My deep sympathies to all the Ebert family. Rob was a part of my earliest childhood, and it was an unexpected joy for me to see him again, quite by accident, at a Harvard football game when we were both in college, as well as to know him years later in Little Rock. He was a brilliant scientist and a kind person.

Dr. Ebert was my doctor and saw him last in early June. I like countless others were saddened by learning of his death. He was such a caring, compassionate person and so easy to talk to. He definitely had an impact on me in coping with everyday living. I will definitely miss him and my prayers go out to his family.
