Biography:

Judy Ann Belford, 60, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Judy was born in Little Rock on Saturday, November 29, 1958 to John and Ruth Ann Fauntleroy. Judy grew up in Little Rock and graduated from UALR with a B.A. in Art and education K-12. She was a certified art teacher for 18 years with the L.R. School District Magnet Schools, where she and her students won many awards. Judy married her loving husband of 33 years John “Jack” Belford on Saturday, march 29, 1986.

She loved art and created many pieces that were admired around the world. She also loved to travel with her husband Jack, they spent two months traveling to far away places every year for over the last 30 years. She climbed many mountains across the continent including hiking on the Cariboo and through Glacier National Park in British Columbia. She was nearly run down by a sperm whale off the coast of Kaikoura, New Zealand while in a small zodiac raft and walked the Milford Sound in New Zealand. She spent a month exploring Vancouver Island and kayaking with killer whales off Tofino. Judy also really enjoyed hiking and kayaking on many trails in Hawaii.

Judy walked trails from Port Angeles Washington down the west coast highway through Oregon and California all the way to San Diego. She also loved anything to do with outdoors and was an excellent fisherman, carpenter, gardener, and hiker. Perhaps her favorite place was Jackson Hole, Wyoming where she spent several months over the years, fishing and hiking the Snake, Little Big Horn, and Fire hole rivers.

Judy never knew a stranger and will be extremely missed. Her life was so full of exciting adventures that it would be impossible to list them all. This beautiful, kind, creative, courageous woman loved her husband, mother, all her friends and relatives; and her wonderful companions Sarah, Raquel, Sophia, Samuel and Sam.

Judy was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Clara Fauntleroy and Marvin and Lilly Bitely; her father, John Fauntleroy.

Judy is survived by her very loving husband and dedicated travel companion John “Jack” Belford; mother, Ruth Ann Fauntleroy; uncles, Donald, Johnny, and Gary Bitely; aunt, Mary Loyd; cousins, Susan, Patty, and Karen Loyd, Cheryl Thomas, and Charlotte Harwood (Donald).

A funeral service will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home (6313 W. Markham St. Little Rock, AR 72205) on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10:30AM, immediately followed by a burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park (10200 Highway 5 N, Alexander, AR 72002).

Jack, I was so sad to see this yesterday. I have missed you both since I left Little Rock, and have so many fond memories of our lives next door to each other since about - what? 1984? I can't remember exactly what year it was, but you and Judy were like family to me for most of my adult life. I know how much you will miss your constant companion, wife, and best friend . You two shared a very special bond. God bless you, and Godspeed, beautiful Judy .

Jack and Ruth, I’m so sorry to hear about Judy’s death. She was so courageous and such a sweet person. She always lifted me up when I talked to her about her cancer and Candy’s.
I spoke with her a few days ago to tell her Candy passed away May 2, 2019 and she was so weak but still so sweet.
My prayers are with you.

Dear Belford family. I am very sorry to have read of the recent death of your loved one, Judy. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be very comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28,29 and at Revelation 21:3-5. These verses tell us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones, as well as do away with all of the many causes we have for suffering, including sickness, pain and death. Knowing this has always brought me a measure of comfort and it is my hope that these thoughts from the Bible will likewise comfort your family and will also ease some of your great pain during this most difficult time in your lives.
