She was preceded in death by her siblings James Forsyth, Jr., William Irving, Mary Elizabeth Davis, Tom Irving, and John Crockett Irving, and nephew Bill Davis.

She graduated from Arkansas Teacher’s College (now UCA) and received a graduate degree in Christian Education.  She began her career as a high school teacher, then worked as a receptionist for American Airlines.  A devout Presbyterian, she studied and led Christian Education in churches in Virginia, Texas, and Arkansas.  She served as Presbytery Coordinator for Christian Education in Arkansas for 25 years, and she taught for many years at the Montreat Center in North Carolina.
Nancy loved the arts, both visual and performing.  She was an accomplished pianist, and loved singing in and traveling with the choir at Second Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed graphic and watercolor mediums. In May of 2019 she donated many of her works to the non-profit Praeclara. She loved the Irving clan, and she leaves many great, and great-great nieces and nephews as well.

My heavy heart is uplifted upon reading other messages of condolences about our loss of dear Nancy. We ALL suffer with our loss of her, and we ALL have been blessed to have known and loved her. I had the privilege of working with her at 2nd Pres. with several ministries; we especially enjoyed working together with the Pastoral Care Ministry and the Welcoming Newborns visitations. She was, indeed, a Good and Faithful Servant, who long will be remembered for her service and good works. We will carry your spirit of love and stewardship onward, Nancy!

Nancy will be missed. At LifeQuest, it was always nice to have her stop by the office and see if any Tootsie Rolls were available. She spoke fondly of her time at the Presbytery. My condolences to her family and friends.

As a fellow Presbyterian Christian Educator in Arkansas, Nancy was my valued colleague and friend. Her cheerful spirit took us through challenging times; her skills enriched countless presbytery workshops, national conferences, and congregational events. Those who followed her teaching in service to children, youth and adults in the church have reason to be grateful. Thank you, Nancy, for a life dedicated in service to others.

Nancy was a dear friend of my mother's and I am so thankful for the caring, supportive relationship they had. Knowing that she was there for my mom was a great blessing to our family, and I always enjoyed visiting with Nancy when I was in LR. She was a gifted, accomplished lady who will be greatly missed.

Nancy has been a mentor in Christian Education and friend since 1978. We worked together on many educational programs in the Presbytery. She was present and participated in my ordination service in 1992. But more, we shared a friendship that I shall always treasure.
