Kristin Beth Kemp Compton

Kristin Beth Kemp Compton

May 21st, 1959 - Jun 2nd, 2019

Biography: Our sister’s earthly journey came to a sudden end this Sunday last past. Kristin Beth Kemp Compton gently passed away during the morning on June 2, 2019. She was born to Joseph C. Kemp and Jewel Edna Kemp on her mother’s birthday, May 21, 1959. A lifelong resident of Little Rock, Kristin attended local public schools, graduated from the University of Arkansas and began her life’s work as a school teacher. Kristin was little bitty but a mighty force for her pupils. She inspired and influenced the lives of all with whom she came in contact. Many of her students wrote her long after leaving her classroom to report on their progress and to honor Mrs. Compton’s impact.

Kristin was an athlete. She could jump rope like a boxer for hours. Her joyfulness and playfulness was infectious. She always greeted with a broad and beautiful smile. She loved her many animal companions. She never meet a stranger, befriending all who came into her path. She talked and laughed and talked some more. She loved her many girlfriends and neighbors. They supported and nurtured one another. It takes a village as they say.

Yet Kristin reserved her greatest love and affection for her best friend and husband of over 25 years, John Compton.
Kristin is survived by her sister, Janan Elizabeth Kemp Honeysuckle, her brother, Hal Joseph Kemp (Ann) and by six nieces and nephews and nine grandnieces and grandnephews.

To honor Kristin and to honor her many many friends, the family will receive visitors at Ruebel Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, from 5:00PM to 6:30PM. Interment at Pulaski Heights Methodist Church Columbarium will be private.

I met Kristin at Parkview. She had a beautiful smile and a sparkle in her eye. She was one of the nicest people I had ever met. She didn’t put on like some people do, she was the genuine thing. I have wondered over the years as to where she was at and what she was doing. She was my friend when I really needed one. Condolences to the many friends and family.

Mrs. Compton was My 6th grade teacher and she was awesome. She saw something in me that no other did, she except me in her class when no other would because I was a trouble child

Mrs. Compton was my 3rd grade teacher and by far my favorite. She went above and beyond for her students - an example being taking students out for lunch on their birthday. She was a fantastic role model and the type of teacher I aspired to be as I was studying elementary education in undergrad. I am so saddened to hear this news, but thankful she is in a better place.

Janan and Hal,
So sorry to hear about Kristin. When we were growing up she was always smiling, funny, and it was so infectious. I will always have a fondness for Kristin, and think about the times in college or back on Bradley lane. She will be missed.

Janan and Hal,
I was so sad to hear of Kristin's death. As others have said, she had such a lively spirit and was so kind. I remember her offer to help someone a few years ago with a very difficult problem. Even after hearing what was needed and how difficult the task might be, she still said "I will do it". I'll always remember her smile and selflessness that day. Thinking of you all and regret I could not come to the visitation.

Hal and Janan,
Bev and I are so sad to hear about Kristen passing. Sorry we were not in town to be with your families during this time of hardship. It is tough to lose a sister anytime; just remember the good times together. My thoughts are with all the Kemp and Honeysuckle families.

Praying for peace and comfort for Kristin’s family. She was so kind and supportive of her students, friends, family, and colleagues. She was one of my co-teachers my first year as a counselor at Jefferson 25 years ago and kept up with me when I moved schools for a while. She had such a kind heart and sweet spirit—her genuine compassion for everyone was always apparent. I was thrilled to get to see her on her 60th birthday and get one of her sweet hugs. God rest your sweet soul Kristin!

Dear Jana’s and Hal,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Kristin. She was my idol when we were young girls on Bradley Lane. She could draw the peanut characters better than anyone, she would always win at tetherball and of course was the most fun and prettiest one of all. Although we lost touch over the years I always considered her my first best friend. I’m sorry to miss the service to honor her and your family.

She was kind and thoughtful and I will always remember what a supportive colleague she was when I taught with her at Jefferson. May she rest in eternal peace and may perpetual light shine upon her. Love you Kristin.

Life is just too short in many cases, doesn't seem fair to have lost my siblings at such a young age. And now to lose Kristin early as well. I am very sorry for her family and her friends. Though now she is back with brother John where she wanted to be. Love you and miss you- Jim Compton

I was so sorry to read of Kristin's passing. We were neighbors for a time at River Oaks and the description in her obituary
was very accurate. She showed me many kindnesses, including an early morning trip to the airport, when I lived there. She will be missed by all who knew her.
