Biography: Jack Hepinstall, 76, of Little Rock, retired petroleum engineer, died quietly at home on Monday, May 28, following a long struggle with lung disease. Jack is survived by his wife, Catherine Hamilton; a sister, Laura Jane Landry (Francis) of Houston; a former wife, Vivian Hepinstall of the Woodlands, Texas; four children: Jack Randall (Merrit), Katherine Hepinstall, Margaret Plsek, and Elizabeth Hilliker (Jesse); two stepsons: David and Robert Hamilton (Brenda Scheffler) of Little Rock; five grand-children; and six step-grandchildren. Jack was born in New Orleans to the late Robert Robin and Laura Ludwig Hepinstall. He attended Isadore Newman School, Webb School (California), and graduated from Gulf Coast Military Academy. He saw military service in the Nike Missile Program, and received his petroleum engineering degree from LSU. He worked for City Service in Houston for many years in the early development of offshore drilling and in international oilfield exploration and development. He worked briefly for accidental Petroleum after they bought City Service and before starting Hepco Services, a consulting firm. Jack was active in church and civic clubs in the Houston area. He was a skilled athlete with many youthful awards, and excelled in tennis and golf as an adult. He was an avid hunter and sailor. The family wishes to thank his doctors, especially Dr. Gail McCracken, Dr. Susan Savata Cruz and Dr. Scott Brown, for their dedicated personal attention, and the Arkansas Hospice nurses and assistants especially Norma Jean Earnest, for their loving care. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice Foundation, 5600 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204, or to a church or charity of your choice.
