Jean Rose McGill

Jean Rose McGill

Oct 5th, 1942 - May 25th, 2019

Biography: Jean Rose McGill, 76, of Little Rock, passed away May 25, 2019. She was born October 5, 1942, in Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Mary Gregory. Survivors are her husband of 54 years, Stanton McGill, and daughter, Shannon McGill.

After moving from Houston to Little Rock, Jean was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years. She was devoted to her family, fellow teachers, and students throughout her adult life. At one point in her career, she went back to school to achieve a Master’s Degree in Education while still working and taking care of her family. In more recent years following her retirement, Jean enjoyed traveling, searching for antiques, and maintaining booths at antique malls with her daughter, who was her biggest fan in life. Her fitness classes at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ also meant a great deal to her, and her family is grateful to her instructor and classmates for their support and concern for her.

While her heart became weak physically, Jean’s true heart was strong, pure, and full of love for people. She will be remembered for her graciousness, gentleness, and her beautiful smile. To spend time with her was a joy. Jean’s life was a gift to her family and friends, and she will continue to be loved and missed greatly.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice Home Care, UAMS, and Presbyterian Village for the care she received.

Visitation will be from 1:30-3:00 P.M., Friday, May 31st, at Ruebel Funeral Home. There will be a private graveside service in honor of her life.

Jean was an exceptional middle school math teacher, having taught my 3 daughters to enjoy math, not to be intimidated by it. Her infectious smile brightened each of my days working at PA. My sincere condolences go out to Stan and Shannon.

Ms. McGill taught my two youngest daughters how to not be afraid of math. I will always remember her and appreciate her for that. She was a wonderful person.

So sorry to hear of Jean’s passing. Not only was she a great colleague, but she also taught two of my children at PA. I will always remember the fun we had with our 7th grade trips to Dallas. Prayers for your family.

McGill Family, We're so sorry for your loss. Teachers like Jean are such special people. We hope that family and friends continue to support you at this time and that you find comfort in God's promise found at Acts 24:15, "I have hope toward God...there is going to be a resurrection."

I am so sorry to read of Mrs. McGill’s death. I was a student of hers at Meadowcliff Elementary 1968-69. It was fun year especially since it was the first year students “switched” class in preparation for junior high! I have fond memories! I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. I was so sad and sorry to learn of Jean’s passing. We were neighbors in Treasure Hills for 20 years and the girls spent much time together with Shannon. Please accept our sympathy and blessings in the future. I’m sure she will be sorely missed.

The world is a better place because of people like sweet Jean McGill. She always had a smile on her face and kind words for everyone she came in contact with while teaching at Pulaski Academy. She also was a part of PARC, PA retirees that get together once a month for lunch. Jean was Jean, sweet and kind to everyone. She will leave a void in this world. My heart goes out to her family.

I was so sorry to see this in the paper this morning. MS McGill tutored my son Stephen for many years at PA. She was such a sweet lady and very patient with him. She was very instrumental in him passing and getting him on to college. I wish she could have had a few more retirement years. My thoughts and prayers for the family.

Stanton and Shannon ... I am so very sad you have lost your dearest friend and the love of your life. The three of you have been so close and enjoyed life together each and every day. Jean has always been a 'lady' in every sense of the word ... so kind and gentle and truly a joy to be around. Shannon truly has been her mother's greatest fan in life!... and Stanton a devoted husband and father to both Jean Rose and Shannon. This family has been exactly how God intended a family to be while on this short journey in our lifetime. My love and prayers with be with you each and every day. God Bless You! Love, Joan M. Morton
