Biography: Sue Layton Walton, 75, of Little Rock, passed away on May 29, 2007, after a brief illness. Sue was born on November 26, 1931 in Little Rock to Augustus Berry Walton and Caroline Polk Walton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Cynthia “Cinny” Walton Beard, and her daughter Caroline Griffin Kaufman. Sue graduated from Little Rock High and graduated from Mt. Vernon Junior College, in Washington, D.C. Sue was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Colonial Dames of America, and the Junior League of Little Rock. Sue had a zest for life and was greatly interested in current affairs. In her younger years, Sue loved to travel and enjoyed meeting people from all over the world, including Ponte Vedra, Florida where she lived for many years. Sue thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, particularly her two grandsons, Tyler and Hunter, whom she adored. Sue also loved spending each Sunday evening with her dear friends, the “Sue Watch” group. Sue is survived by her sister Caroline “Bebe” Walton Stockton of Ponte Vedra, Florida, her brother Augustus Berry Walton, Jr. and his wife, Ellis of Little Rock, two grandchildren, Tyler Augustus Kaufman and Hunter Burke Kaufman also of Little Rock, 8 nieces and nephews, and 19 great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation and gratefulness to Sue’s caregivers, Shirley Henry and Dorothy Johnson. Sue considered them both dear friends and deeply loved them both. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2007, officiated by the Reverend Rocki Profitt.
