Biography: Mrs. Jackie Johnson, 70, died unexpectedly in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 22. A native of Alton, Illinois, Jackie had lived in Little Rock since shortly after marrying her husband of 49 years, Dr. Gerald K. Johnson. She attended public schools in Alton and Marion, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Dental Hygiene. In Little Rock, she was a businesswoman, the owner with her daughter Brenda Majors of Foster Cochran for many years. Jackie was the ultimate hostess and friend, always doing for others. She loved to travel and was happiest when she was planning trips for family, friends, and others. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood and a former member and former president of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a former board member of Habitat for Humanity. Jackie was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church, going on many mission trips, and where she was a former Elder, a former Deacon, and a former Sunday school teacher. Survivors are her beloved family: her husband, Dr. Gerald K. Johnson; a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Majors and her husband Paul of Little Rock; two sons, G. K. Johnson and his wife Diane of Atlanta; and Scott Johnson and his partner Quinci Stevenson of Asheville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Jackie Majors and Emily Majors of Little Rock; and Ryan Johnson, Ross Johnson, and Brooke Johnson of Atlanta; and her adored great-granddaughter Kylie. To cherish her memory, she also leaves a multitude of friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to Jackie be sent either to the National Down Syndrome Society, 666 Broadway, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10012 (in honor of Ross Johnson); or the Habitat for Humanity, 3805 W. 12th St., Little Rock, AR 72201. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

Dr Johnson, I didn't see Jackie's obituary until Saturday afternoon. It didn't who it was until I saw your name. It's been at least 25 yrs since we've seen you but mom and I think about you when we go up to Augusta. I hoped you were enjoying your retirement. We so sorry to read about your wife. Our thought and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless.

Having lost my Mom a few months ago, I know the pain you are feeling. You will always miss her but know that the great memories last forever. She was a very special woman. Find comfort that she touched so many people.

Jackie has been a part of our life since my brothers and I could recognize who our parents true friends were. Even when the years have passed I could always, ALWAYS find her quickly at a party or wedding when I came back in town. She brought so much energy and love of life to the events. Some of that is going to be with all who knew her. All our love and sympathy,
