Biography: Carol S. Murry (?Gam?) of Little Rock passed away at the age of 82 on February 13, 2019 surrounded by family. She was born in Evansville, Indiana to the late Mary Alderson and Herbert Lankford. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Herb Lankford and Richard Lampton. Carol is survived by her husband, George Murry; two devoted sons, Chad Murry (Toby) and Zach Murry (Kristy); two adoring grandsons, Oliver Murry and Max Murry; and sister, Jo Ann Godt. Carol was a gifted student, graduating early from high school at the age of 16. While living in Los Angeles and working for the Motion Picture Association of America, she met George (who would later become her husband of 58 years). Soon-after, she discovered her one true passion: nursing. She focused on her studies and training, earning a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration. After several years working at Doctor's Hospital, she found a home at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) where she held multiple, top-level nursing administrative positions and remained there for over 25 years. Carol spent her whole life taking care of others: her patients, co-workers, friends, and family. Carol also loved playing bridge with her friends and completing the daily crossword. She was also an avid reader who could finish a complete book in one day, only to immediately pick up a new one! However, her favorite way to spend her free time was playing "Gam" with her grandsons Oliver and Max. She loved being with them whether it was playing cards, spoiling them with treats, watching history shows, or happily letting them turn her house into a fort! She loved her "boys", friends, and family dearly. She will be forever missed. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, located at 6313 W. Markham Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Arkansas Library System.

Mr. Murry, Chad, Zach, and family you are in my thoughts and prayers. My mom always spoke of Carol with such high regard when I was a little girl. She will not be forgotten and has been one of my biggest supporters whether it was for my mom or major milestones in my life, she will be missed, and will always be loved,

Carol hired me at UAMS, and continued to mentor me for years after. I was the youngest Head Nurse Manager at the time, and very new to the world of management. She supported me continuously. She had a heart of gold and was always available. I spent many a day in her office, and her sense of humor was amazing. She always lifted others up. Prayers to George, Zach, and Chad, you were her greatest accomplishments.
Love to you all

I?m so saddened to hear of the passing of Carol Murray. What a dear friend and compassionate coworker to so many of us. She was always so professional, yet kind and loving and always ready for a great laugh! What an impact she had on my life. A mother, at work, a friend, always and just one of the most lovely women I?ve ever known! 2 decades of working with her and she will definitely be missed! Lots of love and prayers for her family!

We met Carol when our daughter, Kristy, married her son Zach. Carol was a kind, generous woman with a wonderful sense of humor, who was very down-to-earth, despite her amazing success in her nursing profession. She didn?t have anything handed to her, and had worked hard to earn her nursing degree and Master?s, and ultimately rose to the very top of her profession. All this while teaching scores of nurses who came behind her, and capturing the admiration of other nurses, doctors, and hospital administrators. She was very well-known throughout the Little Rock medical community, and managed all this while raising two sons, with family as a priority. She was a wonderful second mother to our daughter, Kristy, and they they had a close relationship, underlaid by humor, which reflected Carol?s generous nature. We admired her deeply. She?ll be missed by everyone who ever knew her.
